12-Team Playoff On the Way; 14-Team to Follow

lol of course the SEC officials encourage a change to the criteria.  They already have a built in bias at the beginning of the season based on preseason rankings.  🤣

Strength of Schedule and everything ya know…
Yep, and if they don't play anyone in the non-conference portion of the schedule they can skate on the inflated preseason rankings into the conference schedule.  I just think either the Big Ten gets a bump for 9 conference games or the SEC needs punished for the November buy games against Mercer and Wofford.

And those "soft bye games" happen before rivalry weekend.

Compared to NU, we tend to play Wisconsin 6 days before Iowa (this year it's Penn State before Iowa).

I like watching some good SEC games, but their format is total BS.

I've said for a long time that any team that plays an FCS team should be disqualified from playing in the playoff. I don't care if you beat all of your opponents 100-0, if one of those was an FCS team too bad.

To me it should just be about a level playing field. I would actually prefer an 8 game conference schedule for everyone and a requirement that one other game be against one of the other major conferences. The remaining 3 games can be whoever... including FCS if you choose.

Sankey made mention today that if they can't agree, they'll stick with the 12 team format.

I think there's zero percent chance this happens, as there's too much money to be made. Basically, the SEC and B1G are playing chicken, where the B1G wants either four automatic bids or for the SEC to go to a 9 game conference schedule if they want a 5+11 model.

As someone who thinks 8 was and is the perfect size, I'd love to see them at least give 12 teams a few more years, but I know they won't. The only thing I'd look forward to with 16 is more home games, but I'm sure they'll f**k that up too.

Yeah, they are for sure going to 16 teams and I would also want to see more home games.

Do home games all the way until the final 4.
