this is the first of the three games I’ve watched. Look like a totally different team.  

Early on the game  the announcers said he could have played today, but they wanted to give him a couple more days for it to heal.

How can a freshman win new comer of the year but not freshman of the year?

Only thing I can think of is coaches vs media using different terminology.

My guess is there was enough support for both that they split it so they could both get done recognition.

I would think New Comer of the year would be more impressive because that includes all upper class transfers too.
