2024-2025 College Football Playoff

OK....this is being debated all day today.  Why isn't this interference?  The DB hits the WR before the ball gets there.  If it weren't intercepted and if the DB hadn't hit him, the ball may have been catchable.  Is it because the ball was touched by a different defender before it got to the receiver? So, it's basically like the ball was tipped at the LOS so no PI?
So basically, it was a incorrect officiating call and not interference.  Let me explain.

If defensive player looks back toward the ball, he can grab the intended receivers jersey, make contact, and it usually isn't called PI because he is playing the ball too.  That is in most cases we see in every game.  But, PI can be called if official thinks he is interfering with grabbing and holding.

If defensive player does not look back to the ball and makes contact with the receiver, 99% of the time it is called PI.  Including if defensive player puts his hands up and makes contact.  PI.  Key words - hands up, doesn't look back at the ball, and makes contact.

If defensive player puts his hands in the air against a receiver, doesn't look back, and doesn't make contact - he can do that all game long because he is not "interfering".  He is just defending.  No PI.

This last scenario is what happened.  And the receiver creates very little contact with the defender.  It should not have been PI.  Instead of a 4th down and long, it was a first and goal - pass interference.

He did make contact.  He knocked the guy over.  DPI.

No he did not.  Where?  Look at his hip and legs.  44 fell on his own a$$ backwards.
I agree with you but his right arm did technically make contact with the receivers left arm.  He definitely didn't knock him over though.  The receiver played the ball horribly and didn't react in time to the under thrown ball.  Live I thought it was a good call but watching again, I don't think it should have been called.  Didn't have an impact in the end though.

Wow will you look at that?  That's so ridiculous.

It will be close for sure.  But Texas will beat Ohio State.  The whole nation will come to a hault, and tears will be shed.  Experts and everyone across the land that thinks or bets or says OSU will beat Texas will kick dirt and not talk about it.  But they will bring up Ryan Day.

Okay tears won't be shed or anything like that.  I added that stuff for Friday entertainment value.   :)

The Buckeyes are a pretty good team.  I personally think Texas is better than Ohio State and will win.  Others just want Texas to lose.

Agreed and you just have to live with a 50/50 call like that.  If PSU won, I would not have faulted that play.  It was equally competitive for 4 quarters and I enjoyed watching it.  Really enjoyed ND winning, but regardless a good game.  And, the backup QB that stepped in and went 6-7 for 60 yards to get that FG before first half was highly overlooked.  That made it a 7 point game going into half - anybody's game and somebody was going to find a way to win.

I know Feeman laughed at it (the PI) because those same officials kept throwing flags against them anytime they made a big play the week before against Georgia.  3 times to be exact, and wiped out ND's big momentum plays and backed them up instead, forcing punts.

I dont want to pay 70 a month to stream ESPN so I am not watching the tournament this year. Dad says theres lots of commercials though.  So glad I am missing that.  Theres been some cool movies and shows on Netflix tho.  Squidgame is OK.

Ohio St. is going to beat Texas by more than a field goal, unless it is rigged.

vegas isn't in the habit of letting lines get that far out of balance.    them letting it get there tells me they might be expecting a nice payout for keeping it here

The rules in football are just getting too technical and too numerous.

They need to get rid of the ridiculous illegal man downfield penalty which 9 time out of 10 is a guy like one yard out of position, who they never ever would throw to. Just ridiculous

If you like defense, that’s a rule you want to see enforced.  It’s hard on a LB reading keys to identify pass vs run if the OL can go wherever…

If Texas keeps it within 17 here tonight, I'll be surprised. D line of OSU is dominating.
