Second half of our conference schedule should be a bit easier - not that any B1G game is easy.admo said:Hey now, we about to play Rutgers too. Also bout to play real soon - #2 Illinois, #5 Maryland, #6 Wisconsin #7 Oregon
Going to be brutal stretch.

Our current coach just went on the road and beat a top 20 team to tie the record for most ranked wins in a season.admo said:I totally respect @teachercd having a team outside of Neb that he follows since he was a tween. (Illinois or the Salukis) chuckleshuffle
I have love a lot of teams over the years. Can talk about it another time perhaps.
But why is it that a team down the road from me - SMU - can join a power 5 conference (ACC basketball ain't no joke yo!), beat Stanford tonight by 25 and SMU is now 17-5 overall and 8-3 in conference......... in Year 1. . . ??!?!? In the ACC
Meanwhile it takes Hoiberg 4 or 5 years with the Huskers of losing badly outside of last season not sucking, and gets a contract extension?
I am with @teachercd on this thinking. Last year was a nice fluke or outlier and not the real direction or fate of the program.
Huskers have stuck with mediocre coaches for waay too long before trying someone new and different since Danny Nee. Just stuck in a few up and down seasons, and a whole lot of "meh" (aka a tad over .500).
Collier, Sadler, Miles, Hoiberg.
That's 25 years of Nebraska basketball. And just one NCAA tournament appearance. When there are 64+ teams that make the Dance!!!!! 64 !!!
How awful. Even though these coaches seemed like such nice guys. Nebraska nice.
SMH
True. But in all honesty, I'm just venting a bit from the 6 game skid on HB. :cheers I like to do that at times. Our current coach just went on the road and beat a top 20 team to tie the record for most ranked wins in a season.
The B1G is a tougher conference from top to bottom than the ACC imo.
I believe Fred is the right guy to move nebraska basketball into a regular post season team. I guess time will tell.
ACC is MUCH weaker than the B1G this season. ACC has 6 teams in the top 50 of the NET & 7 in the top 75, B1G has 10 in the top 50 & 16 in the top 75. Minnesota is the lowest ranked B1G team at 101, Miami is the lowest ACC team at 229. NC State is 11th at 114th so there are nine ACC teams worse than the worst B1G team.True. The 2 big wins felt great. But, when mixing in some awful games, it can be frustrating at the same time.
Computers don't win games, basketball teams do.ACC is MUCH weaker than the B1G this season. ACC has 6 teams in the top 50 of the NET & 7 in the top 75, B1G has 10 in the top 50 & 16 in the top 75. SMU is only 41 in the NET, so they may have a good record, but it isn't translating to anything special in the computer.
Another indication of SMU's not being as good as their record is that at Bracket Matrix they are actually behind Nebraska with only 3 out of 91 brackets having them in (Nebraska's in 4). Based on those 91 brackets the B1G would have 9 teams in, the ACC only 5.Computers don't win games, basketball teams do.
Computers, stats and the multiple list of different top rankings are basically fodder. At the end of the day, a very good team can play bad and lose, but a computer cannot predict that. I'm sure computers can give you a gauge, but so can anyone with a heartbeat as well. I am impressed you took time to point out numbers and stats and conferences and ratings that you selected to pick, using those computers. But when tipoff comes, computers aren't playing - they are just compiling numbers to mess with people's minds.
