2025-2026 College Football Playoff

In the first half of the four CFP games the B1G has played, the B1G defenses have combined to allow 13 points (Oregon 6 & 0, Ohio State 7, Indiana 0).

Not counting the second have of the JMU game (Oregon was up 34-6 at the half and 48-13 mid-way through the third), B1G defenses have allowed 23 points in the equivalent of three games.

Defense wins championships. We allowed 71 in the 1st half our last 3 games....We do not have a top defense.

Extremely rare and lucky.
If Nebraska had hired Curt Cignetti instead of Matt Rhule, people hereabouts would’ve lost their minds.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Too bad time travel has not been invented yet.

I am so sick of people acting like Indiana planned it this way. The stars aligned and they got lucky. Period. The data point of their turnaround is so far off the chart.
I mean people here lost their minds when we hired Mike freaking Riley..

I wasn’t saying that it isn’t lucky.. I’m saying that it can happen.. and if it can happen at Indiana, it can happen here.

Now I’m not saying that we should expect a turnaround like curt.. but I don’t think somewhere between ok and great is too much to ask for…

Does Indiana run a 3-3-5 with rotating down to a 4 man or do they run a 4-3 and rotate to a 3-3-5. I thought they ran 3-3-5 but looks more like 4-3 / 4-2.
Base 4-2-5 with 3-3-5 looks. Seems liek they have a hybrid LB/Safety type to be more flexible and not have to sub out guys, but can slide LB down or out as needed without leaving field. They just have guys executing the basics on demand. We do not.

But he won everywhere he was at. His record speaks for itself. Riley Mr. 500, Rhule, well career .500...Cig approx .775. Indy took a chance on a lesser known winner. That's why I'd be all about trying that route. Get a dude from NDSU/SDSU (FCS) or G5 with a solid record.

But for every Cig story theres a Mike Norvell (.717% to slightly above .500 at FSU), or Billy Napier at almost .800 at the Cajuns and slighlty below .500 at UF.....Cig just had a career history of double theirs, but never know.

I'd swing at a guy like Matt Entz...NDSU HC .857 and .692 Fresno St (year 1) or .872 overall and 67-14 plus 2 NC's, was was also DC/LB on 4 NC teams as NDSU. This is the type of guy you go for and give him the NIL to get players. But that's jut me. Google him. He's a winner...

Mendoza is on fire....Not a dual threat. Mobile.

His greatest attribute is his football IQ. He just knows what to do in every situation he faces. He is mobile enough when needed. He manages the clock well. He can throw darts when needed. I am super impressed.

Same thing with Carson Beck also. He had a couple really clutch 4-5 yard runs to keep the chains/drive moving…but he’s not running these smashmouth zone read keepers.

It isn’t necessary.

I’m telling you, the idea of needing a QB that can run the ball like Eric Crouch as the guy’s primary attribute just did not translate in 2025 whatsoever.

The mentality should be, you have to have a competent passer. If the guy can scramble, it’s an added bonus.

Wish we could have a do over with Adrian Martinez. I think he could have done very well with our team this year.
