2025-2026 Portal Updates

No offense, but the Haarbeg winning percentage argument is ridiculous. He got to start against La Tech (3-9), Rocky Lombardi-led Northern Illinois (7-6), Michigan (15-0*), Illinois (5-7), Northwestern (8-5) Purdue (4-8), Michigan State (4-8), and Maryland (8-5). That sure looks like a stretch that most of our QBs would have gone 5-3 or better in.

Yeah, totally different than our schedule this year up until USC. 2025 schedule was certainly a murderer's row and certainly not the easiest that Nebraska will face in the foreseeable future...

On another hand, you're absolutely correct, it's ridiculous to compare the winning percentage of a nationally elite 5* 3.5 million quarterback to a athlete/backup qb out of Kearney Catholic.

But here we are.

Yes, his career 49% completion percentage, 97 ypg passing and 1:1 TD/INT ratio was the main cog in the wheel for .600 winning percentage.

He did so great in the games he played and the .600 winning percentage that he got beat out by a true freshmen and then forced to switch positions because ANOTHER true freshman was gonna beat him out for second team.

Thank you for reinforcing my point so well. HH was terrible as a qb1, nobody would likely claim otherwise, yet he was able to win games at a higher percentage than the 5* 3.5 million dollar wunderkind that is DR. One would think there should be a big change in winning % when going from a terrible QB to a 5* in the most important position on the team, right?

NU likely loses to Wisky and Iowa with Haarberg in 2023 so kuddos to him he gets the benefit of not taking those losses on his record which allows you to brag about his winning percentage.

If you think DR and HH are on the same level of playing winning quality QB then have it. It’s ridiculous but apparently you are dug in!

I wouldn't waste your time with twentyfivecents or 307, they have tried to troll quite a bit on ridiculous arguments this week. Love to stir the pot.

...and Dylan Edwards...and Grant Seagren...

Would we take him back? Would he want to come back?

As bizarre as it sounds given the sack numbers in some of our games, I think we probably start Pritchett and Gottula at LT/RT next year even if Seagren comes back. I am clearly delusional, but willing to chalk up Gottula's struggles to him playing through injury and flipping sides mid year. He was pretty good in pass protection in 2024.

And even crazier, I feel ok about the OL next year with new coaching and some returning talent in Pritchett, Evans, and Gottula. I would still take any functional tackle we can get in the portal and make the returners beat them out. Also assuming we try to find a Guard, but I think a combo of a transfer and a returner (Sledge, Taumua, Brix) would be ideal. IMO the complete overhaul in the trenches some are saying we need is overstated, at least on the offensive side. I would always take Tackles, but I'm not convinced Seagren is better than Pritchett and Gottula.
