2025-2026 Portal Updates

You don't get excited for these guys bc Michigan State you would say is in a worse position than Nebraska and bc both of them didn't produce much at their previous schools we as Nebraska fans are hesitant to be accepting of them coming here.
I guess that is kind of my gut reaction. I would be more excited about guys who have produced at a certain level. To be fair, it is really hard to determine if it is the player or system. Were they victims of circumstance or the cause of it? Jury is out. Maybe a gamble worth taking, I don’t know. The guys who get paid to evaluate are more capable of making that determination than I am.

The coaches don't really evaluate players in the transfer portal I believe. I think they(the coaches) have input but Pat Stewart and his staff do all the evaluations which you can question if he is bringing in the right productive players for the team to be successful.

It is interesting bc it is a two way street. Guys have to want to consider Nebraska and Nebraska has to believe that the player can contribute at a level to put us in position to win a championship. Then $$ comes into play. I always find it interesting on who we are rumored to be in contention for.

Captain obvious here, but this is the key. Rhule was recently asked about not aggressively going after instate talent. To paraphrase, "Can we beat Ohio St with this person? Can we beat Michigan.

I'm on the fence with Rhule after year 3. BUT with staff changes and saying the quiet part out loud, we need to recruit players who can help us beat Ohio St/Michigan is a start. At least he is open to trying new approaches. And develop them....

Rhule's comments here:

I know a lot on here have said it's vital for Nebraska to get guys for the o-line and d-line from the transfer portal and I agree. My question is if Nebraska only has so much money to spend on the d-line what is more vital to the success of the defense next season getting guys that are defensive tackles to stop the run or getting edge rushers to get to the qb? Yes I understand you need both to have a great defense but Nebraska tends to have one or the other not both.

Yes

Started at TCU then transferred to JSU for more touches. Along with the rushing he added 30 catches and almost 300 more yards receiving. Be worth looking at him for sure.

TCU stats look solid as well on 2024. 9 TD’s 119 touches for 460 yards and added 18 receptions for 75 yards.

Our backup with most yards had 119 (Ives). But playing behind an AA will do that.
