I don't think there's anything newsworthy here. Fleck will always be running a decently effective program that is in no way prepared to compete at the highest levels. The fanbase is bad, the money is bad, and I think his style relies heavily on guys with a chip on their shoulder rather than a ton of talent. Good enough to beat up on dysfunctional programs like we have been, but never going to compete consistently with Iowa let alone Oregon/OSU/Indiana now. That type of program won't be able to keep the high-end talent that it stumbles into. Most of the fans I know were convinced he would never leave because he's from a small town there, but money and championship aspirations are way better elsewhere.
That's the point, though. They have lost two guys this week that are legitimate talents.

The other one being Ijeboi? I mean sure, it's bad for them - but they are probably going to win 6-8 games next year. If those guys stayed, they would probably win 6-8 games. 6 is now more likely than 8, but it's not like they were primed for a big leap with those guys coming back.
How many of the Athletic Departments outside of the P5 are breaking even?
Like I said, haves and have nots will soon divide somehow if the money in and NIL doesn't change.
A school like St. Johns or Gonzaga doesn't need to have a billionaire supporter to put together a title run BB team each year. Multi-millionares could do it. Their entire athletic programs could consist of 2 teams with 20 players and satisfy Title IX. How many other "D1" schools realize this in the future. They can stay relevant in the national conversation with a sport or two while making some money.
Only around 8-10% of college athletic programs made a profit pre-NIL. I wonder how many used multi-million dollar preseason game beat downs against big schools to break even. The rest raised student fees to cover short falls.
I could see any school outside of the power conferences punting on football and focusing on what may break even while adding prestige to the university; rather than being a doormat filler team for the SEC in November to make ends meet.
This is probably for another thread so I'll stop.
We view this NIL stuff from a have perspective because the BIG is subsidizing our crap football team.
