It definitely shows his maturity level, and it shows yours too if you think having a raw, honest experience of emotions for people you love and not being embarrassed by it is considered fragile.

It shows he misses his family. Not that he can't play football or handle pressure. I struggled significantly when my oldest finished college and moved 1500 miles away. I had similar reaction(s) Archie and I'm in my 40s. I do ok with pressure situations. I think he actually showed his maturity.

I couldn't disagree with you more.

What he's probably not ready for is having someone that weighs 240 lbs and can run sub 4.5 40 yards coming after him. I like him already and I'll be pulling for him. I willing to bet the show of emotion is going to be a catalyst for some NIL funds coming his way. Parents may be getting some good plane tickets and AirBNBs.

You all aren't wrong, but the moment obviously overwhelmed him. The unplanned reaction shows, imo, that other things could to get to him during this first year when things don't go perfect. Controlling emotions is a huge part of competing at a very high level. Maybe I'm reading too much into it and maybe this makes him grow as a person, but I still stand by the thought that new freshman should probably be kept behind the scenes and out of the limelight until their performance on the field demands the attention.

It's a press conference, not a game. There's no 'pressure' and being personal and communicative to a room of reporters has little to zero bearing on punting on a gridiron. I don't know if you've ever played competitive sports, but if you have you should have an effortless understanding about how easy it is to laugh, cry, be upset, joyful, whatever in other arenas of life and not carry that with you onto the field. Do you think guys joking and dancing in the locker room an hour before kickoff also indicates that they're not taking the game seriously?

Totally different conversation and I don't mind this either. I liked Bo's rule that freshmen don't talk to the media.

I’d sure hate to see how Caleb Lightbourn would have handled a presser if this is a leading performance indicator.
 
Love the media hype around him.... just hope he's a good punter.

Cincinnati's last two punters, Mason and Max Fletcher, are the offspring of Essendon legend Dustin Fletcher, who I watched play for many years. The world is getting smaller.
