How many wins should be enough for Rhule to retain his job? I expected 9 this season given the easy schedule.
My expectation was 9 wins as well, considering the schedule we had.

Now? I'm not sure if I see another win this season. Who are we realistically going to beat with this team and coaching staff?

If we miss a bowl I think Rhule should be fired. If you're not improving by year 3 then it's not gonna happen. He's a career .500 coach who's never going to deliver the goods here.

Northwestern is the team left that they might beat.
With an O line like we have, they will never amount to much The defense can’t tackle with good technique. They hit high around the pads or on top where they have no leverage. You have to wrap up their legs.
Minnesota is on their 1 yard line and our d line is three guys- Minnesota runs a simple smash run for 5 yards! We don’t have three men for the d line who are good enough to do it.
How the O lineman who pushed a man down and then ran forward clumsily and dove on somebody who was on the ground! Ejected!!! Too stupid to be a starting lineman.

We have seen what is hopefully the floor for this team. We have also seen some pretty good play at times. I am lowering from 9 to 8 wins. I think we beat Northwestern at home, pick up one more somewhere, and then win a lower level bowl game. Definitely disappointing but given the amount of youth on the team, a short week with distractions, on the road, i guess we shouldn't be too surprised.

I have it in this thread right before kickoff against Cincinnati’s that my prediction was 7-5.

And I can’t remember if it was in that post or another one on the board around that time that I believed the difference between 7-5 and 8-3 was the Minnesota and Iowa games.

Based on what they're doing to Purdue, it's doubtful.

The biggest issue I have is that this is teetering in the brink of disaster for this program, all while facing one of the easiest schedules in the conference.

Then we're going to have to endure another year or two of losing with significantly more difficult schedules before we inevitably move on from Rhule. The writing is on the wall, all that's left is to live through it now.

Nebraska football is a harmless zombie at this point. It's already dead, but it's moving around and going through the motions while not showing any signs of life.

NU is pretty much only relevant because of the fan base. That is pretty much about it.

It is an arms race and Savior Trev tricked fans into thinking that Rhule was some amazing program builder. When he should have been out giving HJ's to Debore, Lanning and maybe Cigs (but that one is still just soooooo insane that it has worked).

I picked 6 to start the season. Looking pretty good right now.

I was 6-6 also but picked a bowl win. I still have hopes they can get to 6 but I wouldn't be totally shocked if we don't make a bowl either or make it and lose the bowl. Said it before and will say it again - NEVER BELIEVE THE OFF SEASON HYPE MACHINE. Once I finally learned that lesson a few years ago these disappointing performances year after year don't come a surprise anymore.
