Arrival/Departure list 2025-2026

Scheme played a huge role. We were also young & undersized. A big run stopper in the middle would have helped. Don't get me wrong we D lineman, but I believe we have players on the roster that will thrive in a 4-3.
Much more so than our current 3 man front...Odd that rumors were Butler wanted to run a 4 man front, but was told no by Rhule. Now we fire Butler and bring in a 4-2 guy. Who knows what to believe anymore tbh.

Sadly it has come to that bc the team is undeveloped and Matt Rhule said it himself that next year isn't a reset/rebuild year.
His definition of reset/rebuild and mine are different. Firing the DC/DL/OL, starting QB leaving, new DC going to a 4-2 vs 3-3 seems more like a reset/do over to me. But hey, at least dude is trying to fix this mess.

Unfortunately Rhule has left us in that position so now the portal has to be for flipping rosters
I do not want to be like Colorado & replace the whole team. The portal is for filling holes!

About 1/3 of all college football players have entered the portal since it opened the other day. There's like twice as many football players in the portal right now than there are in the NFL. Frankly, flipping rosters is the new norm.

30 players is not flipping your roster. Colorado who add double that amount is flipping a roster. That number is also screwed with teams like Iowa st. replacing 3 times that number. Regardless, you came in the middle of the conversation about 1 player & went into left field!

If they’re mostly starters how’s that not flipping your roster?

In 2025 Ole Miss took 30 from the portal. Miami 19. Texas Tech 21. Oregon took 11.
A number of highly ranked and CFP teams took a lot of portal transfers in 2024 as well.

Colorado is one example of it not working out but overall several teams are using this opportunity very well.

I disagree.

In 2 years Cignetti brought in 54 players from the portal and flipped the previous Indiana roster.

6 OL, 9 DL, 5 LBs, 8 WR, 2 TE, 9 DBs, 3 QBs, 7 RBs, a Punter, 2 Kickers, and a LS.

I think that was a very smart move and it's paid off nicely.
Thats much less than Colorado or Iowa st. I hate the Indiana comparison. If you eliminate all the james Madison players he brought with him, Indiana just filled holes.
