"his footwork would be so bad that when he goes to throw his shoulder opens up so much that he'll make bad passes" - I guess I just kind of read that as: "he really sucked at times last year but he's getting better". If he wanted to say he was getting better what's the point of including commentary on how bad he was last year? Just say he's greatly improved, mechanics are better, passing is better, etc...
ps: not a big deal to me, just offseason banter. I just don't want to see Turner in the doghouse...
There's another article floating around out there that talks about Jamal and Brion's frequent film studies together this winter. Apparently the two of them supported/motivated eachother to study film and improve.
Jamal's comments are probably just the summary of what he and Brion figured out together this winter by watching film - that they both needed some improvements if they wanted to see meaningful field time.

i think that was exactly where he was the 2nd half of last season.......oh well.
Carnes playing time this year is dependent on 2 things.okaive said:Aren't we suppose to be talking about Carnes in this thread? I for one would love to see him get more downs this year.
And 3. Getter a better handle on the offense. 1. Learn to read a defense
2. Nebraska has to put teams away.
I agree with this. I read all of the comments from Turner and I see a leader. I think we will be a leader this year.HuskerShark said:IMO, as long as the comments don't go too overboard, the leaders are the ones that are critical of their teammates because they demand the best from them. I think that's what we see from Jamal Turner:
A future leader.
And 4. Most importantly, Taylor gets hurt and can't go.And 3. Getter a better handle on the offense. They'll just put Taylor out at WR and run the Rex-cat. It says a lot about what our coaches thought of Carnes last year when our RB is under center and we have a completely hobbled WR out there. And 4. Most importantly, Taylor gets hurt and can't go.
We didn't do that last year, we did that in 2010 when Brion was Redshirting. They'll just put Taylor out at WR and run the Rex-cat. Rex actually runs a mean zone read, and has a veteran calm about him. If we're just trying to get out of a game, it makes some sense. Of course, mostly it seemed like we were trying to pass on every opportunity possible to develop Carnes. I would say, game on the line though, late in the year, putting someone totally green out there wouldn't be the best idea.
