Carnes benefits from 'football school'

Rex actually runs a mean zone read, and has a veteran calm about him. If we're just trying to get out of a game, it makes some sense. Of course, mostly it seemed like we were trying to pass on every opportunity possible to develop Carnes. I would say, game on the line though, late in the year, putting someone totally green out there wouldn't be the best idea.

i hope Beck's mentality doesn't stick this year, we are already hearing those words here, he thinks about strategies to "get out" of a game when the old Huskers were thinking about scoring another 4 TD's and giving the 2nd string guys developmental time on the field...my how times have changed........
not sure this is Beck's call. Bo has admitted he didn't work Carnes in enough last year - which leads me to believe it's more Bo than Beck that dictates how the game is played. Beck just executes on Bo's gameplan (i'm sure he has plenty of input however)

Aren't we suppose to be talking about Carnes in this thread? I for one would love to see him get more downs this year.
Carnes playing time this year is dependent on 2 things.

1. Learn to read a defense

2. Nebraska has to put teams away.

I hope that we can add a #3: He is good enough to come in when things are tough and give the team a boost when the ohter team is not put away. I know that the #1 QB needs to be trusted but a strong #2 can also come in and imoact a game.

And 4. Most importantly, Taylor gets hurt and can't go.
They'll just put Taylor out at WR and run the Rex-cat. It says a lot about what our coaches thought of Carnes last year when our RB is under center and we have a completely hobbled WR out there.
When was Taylor seriously injured last year?
I was just kidding and then got 2010 mixed in there on accident. My bad. I do that a lot w/ 10'/11' because they seem like identical seasons for some reason. A continuation of the emotional roller coaster.
