Bo Pelini just got a contract extention. There was supposedly a chance this past season to be in the conference championship game. Didn't happen. Tim Miles' team was supposed to finish dead last. They're (likely) going to the NCAA Tourney instead. He didn't get a contract extention. #hmmmm #weirdtimes

Hope the same person reminds him he just saw a team play as hard as it could for the whole game and play great defense, and what those two things a capable of. With a coach that's has embraced the fans and media from day 1. With a far bigger reclamation project.

The media hasn't been unfair to Bo. Bo created most of this himself. Not just the sideline behavior when the camera "catches" him, but in how he treats the media when he totally controls the situation. There's also the "us against them" mood that comes out of the locker room, where the "them" is apparently "us" and the kind of personal stubborness that tends to reward loyalty over perhaps exeprience and talent. Whatever you think about the leaker, the audio tape itself wasn't an unfair representation of Bo Pelini.

And he didn't win enough big games to warrant this kind of arrogance.

On the other hand: they players seem to genuinely respect him. Bo is still learning what head coaching is all about, and particularly what it means at Nebraska, a learning process that appears to be speeding up. Reporters ask some incredibly stupid and obviously loaded questions. The real Bo may well be a lot more fun-loving and disarming than the character Bo has been trying to play. Bo seems to be figuring out that he can have it both ways. Coaches like John Madden could be maniacs on the sidelines and charming with the media. Stubborn competitors with chips on their shoulder don't always make the best coaches. The chip only goes so far as a motivator. Bo is more likeable without the chip on his shoulder and I think the team will play better without the ridiculous "hater" mentality they fall back on when things go wrong.

Some fans need to appreciate that Bo is a 9 win coach as he is, and that he's doing the right things to get better. Some fans need to appreciate that much the criticism of Bo Pelini is valid, and that Bo needs to make adjustments as much as fans need to adjust expectations.

So everybody is right about Bo Pelini.

Bada-bing, bada-boom.

We cant have one that doesnt get spearheaded by negativity? The article in the op is designed to showcase Bo in a positive manner. Queasy as that might make some, does it require a bunch of criticism about the man? We dont have enough of those threads already in existence?
