CBS Sports: Breaking Down the Big Ten Schedules

@BTN_Nebraska: Did you know @Huskers have #B1G's toughest non-con slate based on last year's records? http://t.co/EKceoQWeJA http://t.co/QMa9MwsQgd

We're just gonna ride Fresno's record last year the whole way ain't we?

Seriously though, that's the biggest problem I have with this. They're basing it off of last years records. I do not find that indicative of how tough Fresno will be this year, or believing FAU and McNeese are a threat in the slightest.

Miami, yep that's a tough game, and it's one of the ones where we'll actually see where this team is.

Fresno will be tougher than Miami, the West Coast just screws up teams from the Midwest. The Big Ten is 7-21 against the Pac 12 in road games since 2000 and I would argue Fresno would be comparable to a mid level Pac 12 school.

A mid-level PAC 12 team is UCLA or Washington, and Fresno ain't on that level. Especially this year.

It will be late, and it's a goofy small stadium, and it will probably be hot, but NU should roll in this one.

Right around midnight our time, right?
Just like UCLA took a while to get going I expect Nebraska to get a little tired by the end of the game. Last time Fresno showed up, it took some monster second half plays to turn the tide. Our eyes may get restless by then.

If Nebraska loses to Fresno for any reason, up to and including sleepy time, then I would prepare for a long season.

I agree that without Carr, Frenso St does not pose the same threat, depending how good their QB transfer is. Now, McNeese St gets a boost from last year with their QB transfer for sure, just don't think it is enough.

McNeese st is in no way a threat whatsoever.

I watched Fresno State play twice last year, being at the games. I was not impressed, more like sandlot football than a real team it seemed. They did seem to play better against Rutgers in the early season.

If we truly have worries about Fresno State and McNeese state, we truly do not expect a CC it would seem to me. Respect all your opponents, no question. But the latter has to be considered a gimme, just to be on the schedule. If we are not ready to play them, which has happened in the past, this will be the last time it happens. No reason for that level of a display after 7 years.

I disagree. 2007 Michigan lost to Appalachian State but still climbed as high as 13th in the polls and beat #9 Florida in their bowl game. I mean I guess they weren't conference champions mind you, but they were a good team.

They just couldn't stop spread attacks, iirc.

They underachieved. And that Florida team they beat was also a multiple loss team, admittedly with a Heisman winner on it.

But they were a four loss team that chased their coach after losing to App. St.

Well Fresno isn't exactly an FCS school either

And I don't think there is a single Husker fan in the world worried about McNeese State

Last year against San Diego State, it was just throw the ball up and run under it. No defense on either side. A terrible game, looked more like peewee football. That was with an All American QB.

Being late in the evening, a very warm area, may have some conditioning problems, but doubtful. I would have been much more concerned with Pat Hill being the coach.. He could motivate the kids to step up and play above their level. Big programs were what he lived for. Nebraska visiting is a big big big game for this program. I think they will feel the pressure from it more so than Nebraska being on the road.

Just not worried about this game. If we lose to them, it is going to be a very long season, and the last in the Pelini era would be my guess.
