I’ll assume he wasn’t a citizen and was allowed to serve so I guess, on the other hand, anybody who is stupid enough to sign up for military service without a guarantee of being made a citizen almost immediately, may just have to live with a situation like this. I mean hell, that was 20ish years ago and he was still trying to jump through the hoops? Probably not a good idea to think serving will give you any leg up.

Yep, we take advantage of young immigrants by getting them to risk their lives by dangling a chance at citizenship in front of them.

One more item that should be addressed in a comprehensive immigration reform bill instead of just “build a wall” and deporting without due process.

You would think if the issue is so all important to Rs that they would actually fix it while they have the numbers to do what they want. But they seem content to ignore the actual problems as long as they can get by with skirting the existing laws.
