Crazy crap Mark Banker says

Has he ever fielded a good defense? Serious question.

I don't find those to be interesting comments. More like gibberish.
Banker is a flipping idiot who Oregon State fans ran out of Corevallis years before Riley came to NU.

If the defense is like last year, Banker needs to be given an admonistrative job by his best buddy.
Beaver fans want to Banker out for a very long time
So there's a quote from the article that sounds funny, and you three guys take it upon yourselves to question every defense he's ever fielded, call him a flipping idiot and tell us what you think Beaver fans might have felt about him? We could take a different quote from that article and it sounds perfectly fine:

"All that stuff is good -- rain, sleet, snow, heat, humidity, whatever," he said. "If you're weak-minded, you're probably not going to be any good anyhow. So, we don't have to like it. You just have to play through it. It's one of those things."

He added, "Obviously, we don't want anything health-wise to happen from a dehydration standpoint. I don't know, I mean, it kind of feels good to freely perspire ..."
Quit derailing every thread on the board with this same stuff. It's getting old. It's like you three guys tag team to crap on every single thread in the football forum. Just cut it out.

I think the OP has a great idea for a thread...or at least it was until knucklehead dingleberries hi-jacked it.

Banker has a lot of crazy uncle in him. He is good for a bizarre quote in interviews.

Banker may be a good quote, but that doesn't take away from the fact that he is an average to bad defensive coordinator. The only reason he lasted so long at Oregon State and is now at NU is that he's best buds with Riley.

Aaaand that isn't what this thread is about, is it?

Banderas ran his mouth about how simple the defense was last year and Banker pretty much did the same thing to him, so, at least he's consistent. These players haven't proven anything yet, especially the secondary. Maybe he ends up being an idiot, maybe not, but I'm OK with him keeping them in check.

I just dont have too much of an opinion on him yet. Last years D was pretty good at stuffing run gaps, did let a big one go here and there. Pass D and QB rush were not very good. Need lots of improvement there. And lastly any D coordinator I see running a prevent defense automatically gets downgraded.

Banker is a guy that is hard not to root for, even though he might not necessarily be able to get it done, much like a lot of Nebraska coaches in the past.

Man, you guys bashing him are complete fools.

Sure, let's talk tons avout his OSU defenses, which we actually know nothing about.

How about let's talk about his defense from last year, which improved as year went.

Can you expand on that? I find him dislikable, but am willing to change my mind in the face contrary evidence.

He just seems to have the kind of perspective you want to see in a college coach, keeping the order of student-athlete more in priority than most, really enjoying the role of being a mentor/father figure to his players, and entertaining the media pretty consistently.
