Texas question requires more information. Which conference provides the officials?
lol. You have officially become a Nebraska fan--regardless of where your primary loyalties lie (cough, cough--badgers/c$%ks--cough, cough)

Its too early to tell, I know we love speculating but we have no idea how the teams outside the top 3 will do. The only teams that we know will be GREAT are LSU, bama and USC. I dont think there is that much of a gap from 4 to 17.

I voted no for both teams. Recent history has shown that even with multiple opportunities we couldn't beat either of these teams. Until we prove otherwise, I can't see why we would be expected to be able to beat them. Plus, VT and Texas are ranked. Bo has a 1-5 record against top 10 teams, and a 5-7 record against top 25. With a 6-12 record against ranked foes, I would say the odds are against it.

edit: I just saw that those stats may be from before the Wisconsin game last year. Not sure what his record against ranked opponents is now.

This all goes back to, why not use the winners of the 4 BCS bowls. Sort of a +1 +1. The 4 winners play in a +1, then the winner of those 2 games play each other for the MNC.
Why not you ask? Because that idea would involve waaaaaayy too much logic and common sense while also appealing to the TV people who are $$$ driven!!

Nebraska could beat Va Tech or Texass, just like they could've beat Wisconsin, Michigan, Northwestern, or South Carolina last year. Not saying they would lose, just pointing out that they could win but "could" doesn't really count much for anything. What matters is what they do and how they do it. We won't know that until the season is over.

We went 1-2 against top 10 teams and 1-1 against teams ranked 11-25 last year. And really what I see us going about 50-50 with teams of equal strength to us and struggle against teams better than us, which isn't saying a whole lot. And also three of those losses to top 10 teams were in 2008, so we've gone 2-4 since then against the top 10.
