As much as most of those prospects loved the game-day atmosphere at NU, and generally gave their visits a grade 9 or 10, it came down to performances on the field. Last year the recruits gave us a pass due to Callahan's first year. I don't think we got as much of one this year, and poor performance on the field has hurt us some. We still may have a decent class this year, but obviously not as good as it could have been. If we don't show improvement on the field next year, recruiting will suffer more. But then Callahan will be gone, too.

I do believe Callahan has five years to turn the program around, but only three to show some progress.

i entirely agree, without some success we will have trouble getting big name recruits........and the ******* juco recruiting will become even bigger, which i don't like......it just sez we are weak and not being successful at getting the skilled kids right out of high school......we better be a lot more competitive next year or this trend will continue.......

Wait a minute - if that were true, then a program that has bad seasons can NEVER recover. Look at OU - they stunk for a pretty good time, and came back. And it isn't as if they have any greater tradition, larger in-state recruiting base, or better geographic setting than NU.

Kids look at playing time, exposure, the chance to "get to the next level". Wins are not the FIRST thing on the list when they visit schools.

Good point. Telling an 18 year old that will make him want to commit, but how long can that last. I don't know. Not to disagree with ya, but NU is in kind of uncharted territory.
