In some ways, I can't wait until the regular season is over to get further explanation on this or to receive some additional tea leaves. There is a huge disconnect at this position on field and in recruiting.

Do you think we'll actually get more information? Just genuinely curious because I agree they should have seen this coming, I guess I'm just skeptical that anyone will admit what went wrong. I understand the actual interior DL difference makers in the portal just weren't going to come here, but there had to be at least marginal upgrades and I don't think anyone on the outside bought that Jeudy and an RVP who openly admitted he hasn't been able to stay above 290 even in fall camp were the answers.

RVP was supposed to make a big jump this year, but could only do so much. I noticed he was often hit with a double team and we didn't have enough others on the d-line to make plays besides Nwaneri and occasionally Pietrzak. All three of whom are young and need to add bulk to be effective against the smashmouth styles (Minnesota, Iowa, Michigan, etc.). We lack the war daddies who can plant themselves in the middle of the field and hold the line. I think Berymon would be a huge get as his build could fit that need, though we would need a few rotations worth to keep us dangerous.

IMO we have a good core of defensive linemen, though they are relatively young and need to add bulk to become really effective.

Ok….ive been wondering what happened to him. Is it that he’s constantly getting double teamed and the rest of the line can be taken care of one on one?

If that’s the case, if we can have one more good guy on the line at all times, it could free him up.

Sounds like he will be at LSU this weekend. Bradden seems to have been a horrible hire on the recruiting front. I think we legit get 0 DL (Hank Hughes?). On the play field I’m not blaming him for the ******** considering what he was working with.

Bradden will hopefully show his value in the transfer portal. Most freshmen defensive linemen aren't ready Day 1 so we need him and the staff to identify and lock in some stout fellas to fill up the interior this offseason.

Ask Deion how well that’s worked for him totally relying on the portal for talent on the OL/DL. We also have 0 idea who will be in the portal and if they will want to come here. This was an absolute flop of a class even for the size.

I'm not suggesting we expect the transfer portal to always deliver on defensive linemen, however Bradden has been the position coach for all of 10-ish months. Even if we sign Berymon, we're still going to need pluggable players to join us this offseason. I don't think relying on incoming freshmen will be the solution unless we get pretty lucky.

Ask Jerry Mcguire how it’s working out
