Does the SEC circle jerk finally end today?

2. SEC is thought of playing a lot of FCS schools. Even though these stats shows results through games 10/24 SEC is near the bottom of FCS games played. They do still have some left but shouldn't move them much further up the chart than maybe midway.
Nice work on the research.

Regarding the quoted, assuming those are numbers for games so far this year, a lot of the SEC OOC games are backloaded in the schedule so there are still several FCS games yet to come (e.g., LSU plays Furman this week, Kentucky plays Alabama St. next week).
At years end, the SEC will have played 15 FCS teams...It is more then any other major FBS confrence.

Auburn is suddenly a top ten team, ranked 8th in the latest AP poll. They possess one win over a team worth a damn (exploiting A&M's high school defense), a 14 point loss @LSU (who has been quite underwhelming), and 6 wins over teams that I am told are Division 1 opponents. It seems no matter how bad the teams play, there are always about 6 teams ranked in the top 15, even ahead of the 1 loss teams from other conferences who have achieved just as much, if not more, while also having a better record. It's a joke.

My point is that there are probably teams up and down the T25 who "don't deserve" their ranking. Not just the SEC.
yeah...plenty of teams in the ranking that are not from the SEC. wonder how they got there? none of them can deserve their ranking since they are not from "a better conference"

I mean this resume alone is better than half of the top 25

They beat A&M so A&M must suck? Bama beat A&M by what 7? Come on. Auburn has always had the talent, but Chizik ran them into the ground. Now that they have an actual coach, their talent can start putting together wins again. And look, that's exactly what they're doing.

That's the logic that people use for B1G teams...

In all seriousness, A&M's defense is one of the worst in the country, and that was bound to catch up with them. My prediction is that it will at least one more time this season to another lesser team.

This is a very valid argument. If our Offense takes a single series off, it's bad news. It's really frustrating, but our offense is good enough to help us win most games. Our D probably makes us 8-4 this year.

Sagarin predictor has A&M as the 11th best team in the country.

Auburn is 24th.

I can't find any argument against these rankings

Computer says they are 24th, horribly biased human poll says 8th. After they beat A&M they jumped 13 spots, then got 3 more after beating FAU. That's so wrong. A&M isn't even the premier team in the conference, they may well be the 5th or 6th team in that conference. If Arizona State pulled out a win against Stanford you wouldn't see them jump 13 spots, not even close, even though it's basically the same thing as what Auburn did.

Same with Mizzou jumping 9 spots (would have been more, but they had no more room to climb) to 5th after beating a bad looking Florida team. Not to mention when the teams lose to the also-rans of the conference but only drop 6 spots while VT loses to Duke (6-2 bowl eligible Duke) and drops from 16th to 31st.

I'm sorry that I can't explain the voting methodologies and computer calculations of every team in the Top 25. It's football. What else do you expect? IT's an imperfect system. I'm sorry you hate the SEC so much.
