Dylan Raiola

Where are you getting your stats? He had 6 interceptions this year and was ranked 35th.

CFBStats has him tied for #71. I'm guessing whatever you're looking at probably filters out guys with a lower number of attempts, which would move him up in the ranking.

And again: that's six interceptions in about 2/3 of a season, not a full season.

Just regular ESPN college football stats. I'm sure there are 70 QBs in college football with 5 or less interceptions if you count everyone smh.

And what would that ranking be if he'd actually played a full season instead of only 2/3 of one?

Looks like CFBStats filters for guys with a minimum of 15 attempts, dunno what ESPN filters for on that ranking you cited. This ESPN INT stats page doesn't even let you filter for just QBs, lmao. https://www.espn.com/college-football/stats/player/_/table/passing/sort/interceptions/dir/asc

Let me ask you two something: do you still think Dylan is a great QB? If so, why?

Like... do you have a chubby for QBs with a high completion percentage on short throws and nothing else to show for it? His other stats are average to poor. He's #55 in the country for yards per game. He's #71 for interceptions despite missing three games and sitting on the bench for about half of three others.

I'm not sure that I've used the word "great" to describe Raiola's play thus far, that I remember anyway. I think that if our coaches are worth a damn all the way around, Dylan could be a pretty good player in 2026. And I don't think JJ used the word "great" at all, either.

And quarterbacks have never given me an erection for any reason.

...ok, that's a lie...one time I think I got a little hard watching Jared Lorenzen highlights. Are you happy, Toe?!

I don't know if we'll find a QB that's better than 2026 Dylan, but if we can't find a QB that's at least that good as 2024-25 Dylan, I'd be astonished.

Not a big deal, but I'm pretty sure those two statements almost create an unresolvable paradox.

Who's the last Nebraska quarterback to go 30-41 for 308 yards, 3 TD, 1 INT against a top 20 defense? Or have a 155 or higher RTG over a season?

Tanner Lee threw for 303 yards, 2 TDs, 0 INTs against the #1 defense in the country, lmao.

#54 scoring offense and #84 in total offense, and you people act like we're losing Tommie Frazier and Mike Rozier, ISTG...

Nah. Nobody’s actually acting like that.

If he would have left no matter what else happened (Donovan being retained, Emmett unexpectedly saying he was actually going to come back for another season, or any other order of crazy hypotheticals) then the discussion is moot.

He’s gone. TJ is not the guy for 2026. And we’ll know in about a month whether we’re in a better spot or not for QB after the portal officially opens.

This whole discussion spawned off of somebody asking “would you have wanted him back for 2026 if we could have.” It’s not really that dramatic of a conversation, really.

Just so we’re clear, what you did there is a great example of making a straw man out of somebody’s argument.

The train of thought I was on was, where’s the balance between risking not having a QB that’s at least as good as Raiola if he leaves and then banking on what kind of magic Geep Wade can even perform.

Again though…everybody is now saying Raiola was leaving no matter what.

To the topic of our line play though: I think the majority of Husker fans have a subconscious preset (even more than other fan bases on average) to say that when we lose a game, it’s because our offensive line sucks.

It’s this knee jerk reaction kind of thing.

The “yards before contact” stats this year show we were actually a good run blocking team.

Now, pass blocking? Yeah - it was consistently pretty bad.
""It seems like we traded Dylan Raiola for Geep Wade. Geep better be one hell of a miracle worker.

That’s the gamble that I was talking about, because Rhule knew there was a good chance Dylan would bounce when his dad learns that Donovan was going to be fired.""

No strawman here... its EXACTLY what you said... don't walk it back now.. hold your ground...!!! :sneaky::cautious:

Nah. Nobody’s actually acting like that.

I count three people in just the last couple pages of this thread acting like we're gonna have a hard time replacing him, but OK.

If he would have left no matter what else happened (Donovan being retained, Emmett unexpectedly saying he was actually going to come back for another season, or any other order of crazy hypotheticals) then the discussion is moot.

Frankly, I really don't give a flying **** one way or the other about the reasons he left due to the simple fact that Dylan is far from irreplaceable.

Sorry, just trying to inject a small dose of perspective into the conversation.

There are zero players on this offense who should be considered that difficult to replace. This offense just isn't that good.

Any other feelings I might have about any of the players, or their coming or going or any reasons they might have for it or whatever - they are filtered through that lens, and come out feeling like they're just not that big of a deal.
