I don't believe that was what sent Dylan and Dad searching for a new home.
Yep, and like I mentioned to Red Five, that piece of info is actually really big (if true), for sure.

A large chunk of NU fans will spin it as "Utah wasn't motivated for the bowl game".
The bold is a good point.
I tend to analyze stuff in terms of odds; what are actual odds that get a QB as good or better than Raiola? I’m thinking those odds are lower than most think, because I think Rhule’s schtick is ran out of gas heading into year 4, personally.
If you say "the bold is a good point" and don't have anything bolded, is that a backdoor way of saying he had no good point?????
This is, in fact, a good point.![]()
I wonder where the breaking point will be and when it will come when schools start saying 'We ain't playing this game anymore.' It is like the nuclear arms race out there - eventually schools may say - we are fine with 8-4 or 9-3 and a 10-2 is great but we aren't going to finance our way to those records anymore.. Our boosters can help us with other campus needs. We aren't going to milk a cow that only has a limited amount of milk to give. Without a NFL style compensation package with T&Cs that limit transfers and payouts, schools might just say enough is enough. Let the top 4 teams in each conference form their own league and have at it. We'll go back to being an educational institution.Just came across this factoid from Sports Illustrated:
Of the top 50 high school quarterbacks who signed with FBS programs in the recruiting classes of 2017 through 2020 — according to the 247Sports Composite rankings — 126 of the 168 players tracked had transferred at least once during their time in college. That's 75 percent.
Pure speculation. Could be as @Undone suggests that they were frustrated by a good chunk of fans and media types talking about how TJ should be QB1 and that he's a better fit and blah blah blah. Damon Benning (I think?) mentioned how the general feeling about the Raiolas changed after that UCLA game with large segments of the fanbase and local media clamoring for a QB competition and changing the offense to better fit a dual threat QB.I think it’s safe to say the marriage to the Raiola family was over.
Dom upset with play calling for TJ in UCLA game (a game we won).
Dayton decommits.
Donovan relieved of duties.
Dylan hits the portal.
This ain’t rocket science. Seems it was a done deal as soon as Dom was displeased that QB2 showed a good result. Pretty much a no win position. Donnie couldn’t protect Dylan, Dylan couldn’t protect himself and papa wasn’t happy. I don’t see how Nebraska or Rhule changes any of that without a time machine and a better OL. It is what it is.

How freeing to be free of Dom. He can sit with Scott Frost on the all hated husker team.I think it’s safe to say the marriage to the Raiola family was over.

We may not fill the position with a QB that is as good of a passer as Dylan (highly likely based on history).

Where are you getting your stats? He had 6 interceptions this year and was ranked 35th. An 18 TD to 6 INT ratio is pretty dang good- better than we have had in a while. I'll agree, QBR didn't finish great but that was largely on 2 games. MSU we won but he finished with a 19.7 rating that has a lot to do with game plan. Minnesota was the other where we for some reason went one dimensional and he got sacked every other play. I don't think he was a world beater but he was generally better than anything we have seen on the field for us in many years- and yes, he was a hell of a lot better than Casey Thompson. Casey in his one year here had a 63.1% completion rating with a 17TD to 10INT ratio. He also rushed for -21 yards that season. He was literally good at one thing- throwing the long ball to the one receiver that could create separation.Let me ask you two something: do you still think Dylan is a great QB? If so, why?
Like... do you have a chubby for QBs with a high completion percentage on short throws and nothing else to show for it? His other stats are average to poor. He's #55 in the country for yards per game. He's #71 for interceptions despite missing three games and sitting on the bench for about half of three others.
Like I was saying earlier, I'd have a hard time calling him a better QB than say Casey Thompson. I don't know if we'll find a QB that's better than 2026 Dylan, but if we can't find a QB that's at least that good as 2024-25 Dylan, I'd be astonished.
