It’s also culturally acceptable now. This idea of “team” is fluid now. Just the way it is.As a former D1 athlete, I can tell you it's absolute work. I loved it but it wouldn't have made sense without the perks and the potential to go pro later. I would have changed teams if it I benefited me. Players change year to year, coaches change frequently, fans don't really care about you unless you are winning. Of course the team element is there but the reality is most are doing it for personal betterment.
Has there always been money under the table? Sure. Some programs a lot more than others and that made competition less equal. Now, programs like Nebraska can offer the same amount as Alabama and be within the rules.Roughly 80% of QBs enter the portal at least once. This whole we need players that want to be here is complete and utter BS. Get over it. College football is about money and always has been for the upper tier players. It's just in the open now.
Regarding DR, I think it's interesting that our coaching staff came out and said they preferred a mobile QB. Maybe to justify not paying DR as much of he ends up staying? Feels a bit like negotiation strategies... millions are on the line so us fans should expect that i guess.

Both can be true. Money in the game and players that want to play for your school. AND, sometimes even those players end up in the portal.

Dylan Raiola's New Girlfriend Adds Unique Wrinkle To Transfer Portal Saga With Nebraska Return Looming
It appears as though Dylan Raiola is either going to stay at Nebraska or enter into a long-distance relationship with his girlfriend. She is a truebrobible.com
It's gross that people are speculating about someone's girlfriend and their relationship.I mean you don't have to believe it but it is a possibility that's all the source was saying.
I’m feeling pretty sure that all of this was started by a random guy on Twitter after too much of Aunt Janice’s egg nog over Christmas vacation.
It seems ridiculous that he’d actually decide he wanted to stay at this point.
IIRC, we were Dayton's only P4 offer. Others were App St and Charlotte 49'ers.....Looks like not a lot of other schools saw in Dayton what Nebraska did....The last time this narrative picked up steam it was reported & confirmed by HCMR he would be entering the portal the next day. In the absence of facts, people can't help but speculate.
Also worth noting in that presser that Rhule spoke about Dayton and concluded by saying "I can talk about him because he's no longer a recruit". If Dayton's only P4 option is being a Dylan rider & they are a package deal...call it speculation or deductive reasoning, this ship sailed a long time ago. I would bet the only thing HCMR has done since Dayton decommitted was accept reality & limit Dylan's negotiating leverage.
Dylan wouldn't be the first athlete to overestimate his value, paint himself into a corner, and sell his next decision as a choice. If that is indeed how this plays itself out.

What about Gideon Lampron?
Taking a girlfriend back after she went out and tried to bang the starting QB is gross... just say'nThe last time this narrative picked up steam it was reported & confirmed by HCMR he would be entering the portal the next day. In the absence of facts, people can't help but speculate.

Either I don't understand the analogy or wasn't clear. To be clear, put me in the camp there's no chance he's coming back & this didn't go the way he thought it would if he ends up anywhere except Oregon or Miami.Taking a girlfriend back after she went out and tried to bang the starting QB is gross... just say'n
