@MavricPosted some good stuff throughout the season that alluded to his "longer" passes.  IIRC, past 12-15 yards he started to drop off related to completion percentages.  He'll definitely need to be able to improve this to stress the D.  Hoping better receiver play will help this improve.

hopefully it helps him with his speed/mobility and put more zip on his passes.

I think better WR play can have a huge affect on this.  If the WR can actually create seperation, he doesn't have to be nearly as pin point accurate.  I do feel like "some" of his long passes last year were him trying not to get picked off so he maybe was leading a WR too much...as an example.  if the WR is more open, that helps him out.

I agree with you overall but he did miss a couple very wide open guys in key moments last year.  Hopefully we can chalk it up to freshman yips but it is hard to watch guys with 5+ yards of separation get overthrown.

It could very well be the freshman yips.  It also could be that he wasn't used to WRs being wide open so he was mentally prepared to put the ball in certain places.

I'm sure it's some combination of a number of things.  

Let's just hope it all comes together for him this year and he's better at those long balls.

:facepalm:   he's never even been close to fat, and the picture looks the same as last year. The kid is 6'3" and 230 bills. Mahomes is 6'2" 225, Aaron Rodgers is the same, Jaylen Hurts is 6'1" 223, Brady is 6'4" 225. Ben Rothlesburher was 6'4" 240. Dylan is right where he needs to be to survive a full season in this league.

I think some of the talk is due to people not understanding that the rib protectors QBs wear can make them look bigger than they are.

But your coach doesn't address your weight with the media unprompted if you're not a little bigger than you should be.

I mean, unprompted after the fanbase keeps saying he's thicker than a snicker. Didn't Rhule say he didn't need to lose any weight, just work on his body comp? Which every college athlete and young pro is constantly doing.

Eh, I'm not sure that timeline is right.  This doesn't exactly sound like "he's good where he is" to me.  It was a couple of weeks later when he tried to go for the "you misinterpreted what I said" card and walk the comments back.

“He’s really working on his body composition,” Rhule said. “He won’t be a great quarterback at 240 pounds. Getting his body composition to one where he can be fleet of foot, where he can slide nimbly and move within the pocket, where he can convert third downs with his feet, I think that’s something that we’re all bought into, and he has to continue to do.”

I think most of the issues were because of some pictures when he first go on campus.  He was a little thick in the mid section and had a slight muffin top.   Not something you typically see on a freshman QB.  Not a big deal if you can throw a pig skin a quarter mile

The picture was from this spring, not from when he first got on campus.

I don't know how you take that quote any other way than what I said earlier, unless you want to believe Dylan is a fatboy. Rhule is simply saying he is working on his body comp. Again, something every young athlete does.

Than fanbase was poking at Dylan's weight since he stepped on campus so I don't think any discussion by coach is really unprompted.
