Word around the campfire re: Boom, Major, mack, recruits, etc Here's what Im hearing:
Major was told that he'd be a "Co-Offensive Coordinator", but that he would not be calling the plays. This pissed him off, and rightfully so, and he accepted Muschamp's offer to come to Florida. However, within about an hour, after cooling off, he decided that he didn't want to burn all of his bridges here at UT, and he is probably gonna stick around, and have much more influence on the offense.
Another thing that ticked off Major and Boom was that Mack told them he was not going to make the recruiting changes they wanted. They wanted top offering so many juniors so early, and they also wanted to stop telling guys that if they commit that we'd stop recruiting their position. Mack said no to those ideas.
These things made it a no brainer for Muschamp when Florida came calling. I've also been told that Muschamp talked to the recruits, especially the defensive recruits, and told them to stay committed to Texas, that they made the right choice. He said that going to Florida was like going home for him, as he spent around a decade living there as a child, and that there's nowhere else he'd leave Texas for. he told them that they'd be in good hands at Texas.
Also hearing that yes, Randy Shannon will be announced as the new DC shortly, which will help keep the recruits. Akina is also expected to stick around. Basically, the things I'm hearing make me feel much more optimistic than what I was hearing last night, although there's still a lot of damage control that needs to be done, and a lot of changes that need to be made asap. So for now, that's the word.
