Early expectations for this year.

Hoke has worked miracles everywhere he has been, and the defensive side is his baby so to speak. I assume with the talent that Michigan has he will be able to find those that will step up. Unkown possibly, but like I said he has accomplished things that few have in his field.

They lose 75% of their starting defensive line from last year and will probably be starting a 260 lb defensive end at tackle. I remain unconvinced by your logic.

That's not even true to start with. MSU went 7-1 in conference, that still only puts NU at 6-2 if we had beaten NW. Or still 3rd place in our division. (Tied for 2nd but Michigan won the head to head so I count that as 3rd)
For some reason I was thinking that Michigan State lost to us and Iowa.

Still though, losing to Northwestern is the single game that utterly destroyed out shot at making to Indianapolis. And that's the salient point: we're not nearly as far away for playing for a Big 10 title as some of you seem to think. Hell I get the impression some of you think we're no better, or actually worse, than Purdue or Indiana.

I think we are well behind Michigan and Ohio State, and most likely Wisconsin. We will see what happens with Penn State this year, there maybe motivation to really have a banner year or complete flop, I think I would bet on the first side.

Michigan State has been playing pretty well for a few years now, maybe not rebuild, but sorta reload who knows.

I think we are a close third tied with Wisconsin right now, but again we are talking about a team that reloads kinda like the old Nebraska. I like to watch them play.

I am not terribly disappointed in that level, I am hoping we begin to recruit better, as I think that is the key to being able to play with the top two.

My goal for this year is for the team to play as a team, play every second like it was the last of their career, learn and go on the snap count and play like they really want to play for Nebraska, not just get a scholarship.

Tom Dienhart from BTN ranks Nebraska's secondary third in the Big Ten.

He has our Linebackers seventh in the Big Ten.

Finally, our front four are fourth in the Big Ten.

He has Ohio State ranked ahead of us in all three categories.

From less than .500 to PURE WIN AND AWESOME!!!!!

all because of a head coach. Gotta love hype.
Bo Pelni nearly doubled our wins with the players he inherited.

It happens all the time. Just getting rid of RichRod put Michigan back among the living.

High expectations, but it's not just hype. It's actually more foolish to assume Urban Meyer won't put a fairly well-loaded Ohio State back among the elite.

How long is he out for. But I seriously doubt it will hurt them. I know he is great player, but the depth at Ohio State is not the same as at Nebraska. They are what we were, every kid in the state dreaming to play for them, my guess is Ohio State with Meyer is going to be our worst nightmare for years to come, Michigan will be a like a twin brother. My guess we will have occasional sucess against both of them, but the long range is looking up at them.

But the sad thing is we are all going to be looking up at the SEC for a long long long time.

Switzer said it best, they have 10 times the population in a much more crowded area. Easy to recruit, never really leaving the conference unless someone really wants to go there. Way more highschools with serious athletic departments, training year around at the high school level. Plus the supposed educational fudge margin some claim they have.

Just do it right, win the ones we are supposed, play every game to the end, be prepared for every game, and if we lose, show good sportsmanship, that really is all anyone can ask of a Program. That will be good enough for me.
