The Frenchman was in the act of shooting when he turned his ankle 20 minutes into the second half, and required help to leave the field.

A report on the Bayern Munich website reads that the 27-year-old has sustained ligament damage in his right ankle and that Ribery doesn't need to undergo surgery. Technical director Christian Nerlinger believes the Frenchman can resume training in 3 weeks.

Barcelona Struggle In 1-0 Win Over Sporting Gijon

Without Messi, Barcelona looked lifeless and confused. Bojan was terrible. Bad first touches and misplaced passes saw Bojan substituted for Mascherano in the 70th minute. Pique came on for Puyol who re-injured himself (probably his left calf). Villa ended up scoring the only goal of the match in the 49th minute off a nice pass from Alves.

The referee allowed Dirk Kuyt's goal to count after ruling Michael Turner had taken a free kick when he appeared to roll it back to goalkeeper Simon Mignolet. Mignolet stood on the edge of the penalty box looking for the sideline referee to halt play, but the ref did nothing and Torres rolled a pass for Kuyt who shot it easily into the open net.

I can't believe how underwhelming Liverpool are. Things better pick up or else they have no shot of finishing in the top 4 again this season.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dlz8_0wB8xk&feature=player_embedded

What an amazing game! Played in the pouring rain, it made for quite the dramatics! A quick note: only Basque players are allowed to play for Bilbao...it's a policy

11' Keita shoots it right at the keeper on a 1-on-1 situation

13' Villa hits the right post with no one in front of him but the keeper; superb pass from Iniesta

24' Llorente's strike from the right one-hops it right to Valdes who handles it with ease

25' Pedro's shot from just outside the box pushed away by the keeper

34' Amorebieta given a straight red for a bad challenge on Iniesta; it looked like he came in with his studs up

50' Javi Martinez hits the left post following a free kick; wasted opportunity as Valdes had been caught in the middle

52' Pique takes a nasty shot outside the penalty box which the keeper pushes out for a corner kick

55' KEITA SCORES!

56' Pedro's shot deflected wide of far post by keeper; you can't miss from there!

57' Pique again takes another shot from outside the box which the keeper has trouble with

59' Pique receives a yellow card for obstructing Llorente; questionable call

60' De Marcos's shot into the lower right corner easily saved by Valdes

64' Iniesta smashes it off the near post; great through pass from Pedro

74' XAVI SCORES! shot deflected off a Bilbao player underneath the keeper

81' Aurtenexte given a yellow card for a reckless challenge on Pique

82' Bojan on for Xavi; Thiago on for Iniesta

87' Villa given a straight red for slapping Gurpegui in the face; the two had been fighting for the ball; Villa clearly frustrated for not scoring the entire night

90' GABILONDO SCORES! Javi Martinez's header parried wide by Valdes; De Marcos picks it up and crosses to Gabilondo who shoots it in with his right foot

90'+2 BUSQUETS SCORES! Busquets rifles it into top right corner off a pass from Pedro; Keita with the great forward pass finding Pedro all alone who manages to stay onside, run upfield and pass it back to the oncoming Sergio Busquets inside the penalty box
