Fernando Torres To Leave Liverpool - Report

Fernando Torres has decided to leave Liverpool by the start of next season. Reports have suggested Torres has a $50 million release clause written into his contract and Goal.com understands the player has made his mind up that he wants to leave Anfield, with a summer exit still the most likely scenario.

The Spaniard is also believed to have serious concerns about the ambition of the new owners who are yet to invest in the squad this month and risk missing out on Luis Suarez, their top target, because of an unwillingness to pay Ajax's asking price.

Liverpool confirmed on Thursday that a $35 million bid from Chelsea had been rejected, with a club spokesman adding: “The player is not for sale.”

Ajax Confirm $26.5 Million Deal With Liverpool For Striker Luis Suarez

Ajax have confirmed that they have reached an agreement with Liverpool over the transfer of striker Luis Suarez for a fee of $26.5 million. Suarez himself declared on Friday that he was desperate for Liverpool to reach an agreement with Ajax to allow him to grasp a "beautiful chance" to join a "big club in Europe".

A Liverpool statement added: "Liverpool Football Club announced this afternoon that they had agreed a fee of up to $26.5 million with Ajax for the transfer of Luis Suarez, subject to the completion of a medical. The club have now been given permission by Ajax to discuss personal terms with the player and his representatives."

Chelsea are preparing to increase their offer for Fernando Torres in order to secure the striker’s arrival before the transfer window closes on Monday, according to reports.

After having a bid of $35 million turned down on Thursday, The Times claim Chelsea are now set to offer $46.6 million plus striker Daniel Sturridge.

Liverpool FC have confirmed that Fernando Torres submitted a transfer request Friday night. The request was rejected.

A statement on Liverpool's official website said: "Fernando Torres tonight submitted a written transfer request, which has been rejected by Liverpool. Fernando is under long-term contract and the Club expect him to honor the commitment he made to Liverpool FC and its supporters when he signed the agreement."

Liverpool have asked for Nicolas Anelka to be included in Chelsea's $50 million bid for Fernando Torres as a deal before the transfer window closes grows more likely. Contrary to Liverpool's public stance that Torres is not for sale, the club is willing to negotiate in fear of the negative consequences of keeping a player who has publicly stated his desire to move on.

Torres submitted a written transfer request Friday night which was rejected by Liverpool, but that has not deterred Chelsea from making a second offer of $40 million in cash plus Daniel Sturridge. Liverpool have asked for Nicolas Anelka, not Sturridge, to be included in the deal to meet their $50 million valuation of Fernando Torres.

 
Fernando Torres For $95 Million! - Report

According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea will try to push through the signing of Fernando Torres on Monday with a stunning $95 million transfer package they believe will trigger an escape clause in the striker’s contract.

Roman Abramovich will pay any cost to secure the service of Torres, with $50 million needed to satisfy the buyout clause they are now confident exists.

A further $45 million will be guaranteed to Torres in a 5 year deal that would see him earn $175,000 a week.

Having been given permission to return late from a mini-break in Spain, Torres missed Sunday's morning training session. He did, however, train alone at Melwood on Sunday afternoon, with his agents in close attendance.

Kenny Dalglish Mum On Torres

"With regards to Fernando, it's the same as what the club statement was two or three days ago," Dalglish told reporters this morning. "We will stick to that and we won't be adding to that."

"Our supporters deserve to be told. But I think our supporters deserve to be told definitive news rather than speculative stuff."

Dalglish also stressed that no player is bigger than the club. "Movement is part and parcel of football. I wouldn't be here if there were no transfers. I started off at Celtic. There are many people who've started off at clubs and moved on. And certainly if Kevin [Keegan] hadn't gone I wouldn't have come here. Throughout the history of football people have moved on. But the most important thing that we all must remember is that this football club is much more important and bigger than anybody."
