Manchester United's Vidic Out For Season With Torn ACL

Manchester United has confirmed captain Nemanja Vidic will miss the rest of the season after tearing his ACL.

Speaking at a pre-match press conference on Friday, Sir Alex told reporters: “We thought it was a bad one. He’s out for the season. It’s not unexpected but it’s still bad news. He’ll see a specialist on Monday to work out the progress of when he has the operation. It won’t be immediate as we have to let the swelling come down.”

Vidic hurt himself in Manchester's Champions League game against Basel on Wednesday.

Rooney Has Euro 2012 Ban Reduced To 2 Games

Wayne Rooney could play in England's last Euro 2012 group stage game against Ukraine after his 3 match international suspension was reduced to 2 matches by UEFA.

The Manchester United striker was appealing a ban that would have seen him miss all of the first phase of the competition for his red card in England's final qualifier against Montenegro.

The third game of the ban has now been suspended for 4 years, meaning that if Rooney lands himself in any more trouble in another game in the European Championships, it could be reinstated. He will also take part in a UEFA community program.
