Freshmen running back trio creating excitement

Cant find anything on this, but has Curenski moved back to WR during fall camp or has he stayed at RB like he had been in the spring?
Cure sat with the RBs at Fan Day. <--- Click for full-size pic

You can see that he used his Sharpie to add the /WR to his name sheet.
Huh, that's interesting. Think he could play both positions this year?

Can't help but think he might achieve a bit of a renaissance at WR under Fisher.

Great coverage of Fan Day by the way knapp, well done.

I stand by my prediction:

1. Heard

2. Abdullah

3. Green
Complete agreement by me.

Braylon is ballin', but it sounds like Ameer is impressing the heck out of people too. Really, really doubting that either of those guys will take a redshirt.

IMO, no real reason to play Green for the amount of touches he would receive as a 4th RB. He could return kicks, but Ameer has been working there as well. Austin Jones is decent enough himself.

Biggest thing I think Aaron may have to adjust to is the toughness and speed of a new level of football. Was much easier for him to bounce so many things outside in HS and just out run folks. Not as easy to do on this level, and you need to be able to run with a sense of toughness as well because those holes will not always be so ginormous to run through.

If we do play him, I'd almost expect a Niles Paul/Quincy Enunwa type year. Playing time and infrequent touches, with not enough to justify taking away a year of development he needs to get stronger and adapt.

^could add Fonzie to that list, I think. Not sure if he even saw anything more than scant defensive snaps his first year. But I guess he blocked for Niles Paul on a kickoff returned for a touchdown, wohoo?

Bo's apparently said that none of the three will redshirt; I haven't read that article but have seen it referred to. I hope that is not true. It would be a colossal waste for Aaron.

The RB's are only going to get better as the o-line gets deeper and more experienced. We brought in 5 guys with massive potential this year. Next year we are looking to bring in 3 more... including 4star Paul Thurston who could be a great guard and we have a very good shot at 5star Andrus Peat at Tackle. Going into 2012 we could easily have a 2 deep of freshmen, redshirt freshmen, and sophomores alone if you count Jake Cotton, Mike Moudy, and Mark Pelini.
Moudy is going to have to work extra hard if he's going to get any playing time. You might see him in mop up duty but I wouldn't plan on seeing him in the 2 deep often at this point.

Looks like another run of "Nebraska Triplets". Imagine Martinez, and even 2 of the RBs in the backfield. The opposition isn't gonna know what hit them.

Don't remember the exact quote but he didn't say none would shirt, he said a shirt wasn't planned at that point. I'd guess that means he wants to keep them battling and competing then see how they project before deciding if somebody should shirt.

I'd lean towards shirting Green. A year of lifting and running against the blackshirts could make him more physical and it would be nice to have the guys spaced-out a little.

I'm curious why you guys underestimate Aaron Green so much in favor of Ameer. Are you guys pulling your best Todd McShay, and making a bold statement of saying Ameer will be better than Aaron just because you want to be different? As far as Ive seen, Aaron is bigger, stronger and just as fast, and probably has an even more explosive burst and change of direction. Heard probably is the next best, but even his agility isn't on par with Aaron's...

Practice-reports have said that AA is ahead at this juncture. Doesn't mean AG won't be as good or better long-term, just means AA may be more ready to play this season.

Because Green's highlight videos don't show as much ability between the tackles. Great speed, agility, and vision . . . when he runs outside. He seems to go down on the first contact more often than Heard/Abdullah.

It's nothing personal against Green. Seems like a great kid. I hope that he is the second coming of Rozier.

It is good to see that we are getting some of the pieces to get a good running game, but we have a long way to go. Let's be realistic: We've basically been running a one trick pony running game in a conference not known for defending the run. 3,000 yards or not, the running game that we had last year isn't on the same planet as what we had in the 80's or 90's. It is like comparing finger painting to a Michelangelo.

Whether the new OC has the noodle to make use of the young talent and establish an effective ground game is yet to be seen, It appears that we have the pieces in the backfield. Now if we only have linemen with the physical characteristics necessary to create a good ground game........

I don't think some people realize how much of a physical specimen Green is. I beleive he benches around 300 and squats 500. IMO he didn't do as much running between the tackles in high school because he didn't have to, he could simple run around everyone. With that being said, I hope he does get a redshirt. It will only benefit him physically and mentally.

To me it doesn't make any sense to have all three of these guys playing. You'd be better of redshirting one of them instead of giving him a handful of carries for under a hundred yards and then graduating three running backs in four years. If AJ is capable of playing, sit the one who needs the most development unless there's an injury. Just because you plan to RS a guy doesn't mean he's not available.
