Fumble Reviewed

Bad year all around for Big 12 refs. Just another major problem for a conference rife with them. Par for the course, 'eh Daniel?
:yeah

I dont buy into ALL the refs being against us. If there was an organized effort, by the B12, to screw NU someone would of talked by now. I do not believe every ref, and official could be pulled into this. What I think is happening is we are seeing a lack of training and professionalism from the officiating corps. heck it was brought up on game day early on in the season that B12 officials are at the bottom of the bin. I didn't buy into that then, but watching this season unfold it is becoming more obvious.

The announcers on the radio seemed to think that the play should have been blown dead long before the fumble because obvious forward progress had been stopped long before the fumble. I didn't get a chance to watch the game, so I don't know about the knee and what not. While there have been some calls go against us, there have also been some calls not made against us like the Crick facemask. I'm of the opinion that the ref's just aren't very good. Until a team gets five downs against us, I'm not willing to concede to conspiracy theories yet.
Just you wait. It's gonna happen.

This is a little off topic but sort of related...toward the end of the game (cant remember exactly) we punted and the punt landed out of bounds around the ISU 30, the refs blew the whistles and all of the players stopped going after the ball. After the ball landed out of bounds and the whistles blew the ball bounced back onto the field and back-spun up to about the ISU 45. Our players just watched it roll up cause the play had been blown dead, no one was even looking at the ball they were walking back to the sidelines. What no one in the booth noticed was that when the ref spotted the ball he did not go to where the ball bounced out of bounds he went all the way up to where the ball stopped rolling. ISU had some sort of penalty on the play and instead of marking it off from where the ball bounced OB they marked it off from where the ball stopped rolling about 15 yards upfield thus pretty much negating the penalty yardage...just another weird thing that raises my eyebrows. Anyone else notice this?

The appropriate response to all of this is to

win the Big 12 championship to send an

unmistakable message to Commisioner Beebe

what he can do with his politicized, Texas-run

joke of a conference.
We may not make it to the CCG if we continue to get jobbed by the refs. Calls in the Texas game, MU game and ISU game all are BS.
Don't forget about the K-State game, where the ref would spot the ball about two yards off the mark, absolutely horrible. I know it was a blow out, but bad calls are unacceptible in any game. Oh well hopefully we will get through the year with the one loss and move on to better places.

I just watched all three of our second half punts looking for this. Didn't find it.

Our final punt with 45 seconds left went out of the endzone.

Before that, we punted at 6:45, it was fair caught at the 35.

Before that, we punted at 9:07, it landed at the ISU 47 and went almost straight out of bounds.

Those were our only second half punts.

Yes and at the Washington game, the spots were so bad Bo challenged one... So that proves PAC-10 refs are out to get us, man we will never win that conference... Oh wait..

It was with 5:17 left in the second right after kinnie dropped that 3rd and 2 pass...

Yes we got bent over on the Helu fumble and yes we will continue to get bent over the rest of the way. The best way to deal with it is to come out and get a big lead like in the misery game and take the other team and zebras out of it.

We can do that if we are on top of our game but against Texas A & M and possibly OSU, it will be harder to do that. OSU can score with anyone in the country. You get a couple bad calls and they turn those into to TD's, wall aah!!

NU is hosed out of the Big 12 Championship.
Well, NU already beat OSU (bad calls and all) wall ah!!!

NU can overcome bad calls. If NU is in a position in the next few games where a bad call blows the game, I will be disapponted.

I found it, although the backspin wasn't as much as you remembered it. It landed out of bounds just inside the ISU 45, bounced back and was spotted at the NU 48 (7 yard difference). Just a case of a ref not paying attention. What's ridiculous is, Carl ran out onto the field right after the whistle blew to talk to Cassidy, and the ref ran right behind him to go spot the ball. If the ref thought it was still live, he should've been flabbergasted at Carl being on the field and thrown a penalty. The ref just looked completely clueless.

Ya I was off on the yardage but a ridiculous display of officiating none the less, they should have started the drive on about their 30..

As have most of them this year.
