Garret McGuire Hired as Wide Receivers Coach

Receivers looked awful attempting to block again.  It's like they can't and they won't.  They are literally ruining plays.

It affects the horizontal screens, the halfback screens, and the running game.

That is the position coach and the players (receivers) at fault together.

How is banks so bad at blocking? He's a senior. Did the wrs at wake forest not have to?

I feel like because the O-line has been taught to block with palms up or whatever to mitigate holding calls, that is what they are doing with the WR.  Just go up there and grab the inside of the shoulder pads and move the guy.  Or just keep yourself between them and the ball carrier.  Our guys make it look harder than it is

I get kind of tired of people saying the screens don't work because the WRs can't block. But not because they're wrong. It's because, if your WRs are ruining your screens, this many games in, stop trying it so often.

Or run something off of it. Like a fake and go, or something.  That shovel pass on the 2 pt conversion was a great call IMO.

I agree because I have always disliked throwing horizontally to WRs.  And it's a few yards behind the LOS.

The only type of screen I do like (once or twice a game) is the traditional halfback screen, where you set it up with pulling lineman out in front of the RB.

Those WR screens work well against soft zone coverage. OSU was playing quite a bit of press man coverage...

As someone has coached wr to block very well and some who cant do it.  Adjust your play calling.   Make it look like they are going to block and then run up field.  What we are doing now isnt cutting it
I’ve been waiting for this play. Dylan pump fakes the screen pass then has a wide open War going down field.

Thus this is on Satt.   We have 6-4 WRs.  If they are being covered tightly - throw the ball to them down field.  The WR screens were a disaster.
