Randy smoked a joint in late January. Tried to flush it and got busted. If any of you believe his story email me I have ski resort in key west for sale. Cheap.

The only way he's failing a test at the combine from smoking in Dec, is if they did a follicle test and not a urine test. I used to date someone who administered drug screenings, I don't buy RG's timeline. I also could not give a rip about weed. There was even discussion that pro sports were going to stop testing for it as there has been some early findings that it has beneficial qualities for various recovery needs.

Combine was middle of February? If RG was a chronic heavy user (daily or more for 3+ months), it could stay in his system for over 60 days. Urine tests typically check for THC metabolites which stick around much longer than THC. I don't think RG is being completely honest here but the timeline is reasonable depending on the urine test used. The low-rate test can take up to 100 days to clear after sustained chronic use.

I dont believe you can say its not addictive. There are many studies who say it can be, but others that say no. One of the best studies ive seen says about 10% of people who smoke will become addicted. I believe there are some who do become addicted.

Why do some people have such a hard time not smoking it? Why does Randy say its "been a problem" for him? Almost anything in life can be addictive. Hell, some people are addicted to collecting garbage. Fact is, it is addictive for some. It makes them feel a certain way, they like it, and they can get obsessed with trying to get that feeling.

The addiction rate for marijuana is quite low, lower than almost any other drug. It's in the 9 - 10% range. And you're right, nearly anything *can* be addictive especially if you have an addictive personality.

Randy is saying he was smoking pretty heavily at Nebraska, latest joint in December, and that's why he tested positive, but he is changed now.Husker no ka oi is saying he doesn't find that credible, and suggests Randy probably smoked much more recently than that and hoped it would be gone from his system by the time the Combine came around, but it didn't.

Yep, this is true. And, because of the longevity it stays in the system (20-45 days), compliance issues around it in the states that have it legalized are quite challenging. There's no way to answer (*yet) 'when' the person smoked it, so it has to be zero tolerance at this point. Especially in medical and construction careers, where safety is priority #1. Can't have someone stoned on the job.

Anyway, I digress......still what a bonehead decision by Gregory, especially given what appears to be such effort and desire he has put in and has for playing in the NFL.

There is a way to tell....

Every drug test has a window of detection. Urine tests can detect marijuana use from just a few days, to weeks or even months after use depending on a variety of factors. Blood tests can detect THC in the bloodstream and can be accurate indicators of recent use. Saliva tests have some of the shortest windows of detection, some as small as 3-4 hours.

I do agree that we can't have people stoned on the job just like we can't have drunk people on the job.

Yes it should be legal and no your employer shouldn't care if you smoked at home on Friday night. But let's call this what it really is, an idiot test. Yep. Most places don't routinely drug test bc it's fairly expensive for pee tests and even more for hair. They're typically only given if there's a reason too, like a workers comp claim, as Blackshirt said.
