How did Washington do it? (Comparison between NU and UW)

So....Alabama gives their coaches 4 years to win an NC period...and but, Neb Nebraska should only give them two before everyone should be pissed off we haven't won an NCraska was smart to give Osborne 22 years.
You know that's not the narrative,
Of course BRB knows that's not the narrative.

He was responding to my comment above his where I said this:

"There should be no talk of offering longevity to our current coaches based on their results so far. In fact their results so far should put them squarely on the hot seat next year. Time to stop making excuses."

That's next year... as in year 3... as in Three years. And notice I said "squarely on the hot seat"... I did not say fired... yet.

As far a Tom Osborne:

Once again a quote from me... comment no 70:

"Longevity is a REWARD for performance. It's not something that you hand out like Halloween candy. It has to be earned."

Nebraska smartly and correctly rewarded Tom Osborne for his amazing coaching. Tom Osborne earned every bit of his longevity. If a coach showed up at Nebraska today and had TO's performance... Nebraska fans would want to elect him king.

Any one is free to go to Wiki and see the amazing chart of TO's career. It's truly amazing. Scroll half way down the page to view Osborne's amazing coaching career at Nebraska.

If I had a special sports room or Nebraska room in my house... I would make a copy of that chart... have a poster made of it... and hang it on the wall in a prominent place with a spotlight on it. LOL That's how amazing that chart is.

What you are conveniently leaving out is the fact you have the benefit of 20/20 hindsight with TO. We are talking about the first 4 years. After all, you have proclaimed that we need to be like Alabama that fires coaches after 4 years if they haven't won an NC. Remember, that's a brick wall there that nobody who doesn't win an NC crosses. If they win an NC in 4 years or less, they make sure they stay. If they don't...they are gone...end of story.

Well, TO had not won one in the first 4 years.

So, end of story. TO should have been fired. No reward for lack of performance winning NCs.

At the end of 4 years, TO had managed to tie for one conference title while losing to unranked Missouri twice, ISU, Wisconsin, and ranked OU 4 times.

Alabama would have fired TO 5 times before he won an NC.

If Washington can build off of this past season, then we can talk more about it. For now, they have some talent on defense, a good little quarterback (which can make or break college teams imo), and I like how they incorporate play action and misdirection a lot in their passing game. I like their coach and wanted him here over BP. They are headed in the right direction but next year they won't have the luxury of sneaking up on opponents. That's how you can determine if a team is really good or not. Having a bulls eye on you, getting everyone's best, and still winning.

Your weak. You've got nothing.

Stop making up-fabricating quotes and statements from me.

I said we needed to learn from Alabama and their success at coach hiring. I didn't say we needed "to be like Alabama". And we also need to learn from other schools ard from how they have been successful... including coach hiring and recruiting.

Once again... a quote from me.

"I'm certainly not here to heap praise on another football program... but what I don't understand is why, for 20 years, we've refused to learn anything from other successful programs. Tom Osborne learned from other programs (Oklahoma) and put that knowledge to good use." Comment No 54 from this thread.

I'm starting to wonder whose side you are on. You're arguing against learning... at the UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA. The football program is part of the COLLEGE (that's right.. a SCHOOL ) a place to LEARN.

Our football program has a lot to learn. We need to start that learning process NOW.

If you don't want us to be like them, what should we do with what we learn from them?

PS....I'm weak??? I didn't know this was a strength test. I should have been working out.
