How To Fix it

I'm curious to see your thoughts, you want someone as a coach who would run the option and know it inside and out right?

SO what about bringing in the man himself Tommy Frazier for OC or HC?

and as far as DC winstrom.

Just wondering what you all think?

Tommy as a QB coach, yeah, I could see that, maybe even OC; but to give the head job to someone without much experience would be...well...probably not the best idea. Gill is the name I've heard that makes some sense. If people have more to say about him and his credentials I'd love to hear it.

Husker x, you have become my favorite Huskerboarder of late, even though your avatar scares the piss out of me. :P

I agree completely with everything you said. I support the HUSKERS, not this uninspired and untalented mess of a team we've become. It's time to change.

I was in favor of Callahan and his WCO when it came here, but it's obvious that Callahan can neither recruit the types of players we need to run it nor coach it effectively. Maybe a different coach could do a better job, but it would require an overhaul of the ENTIRE coaching staff. We may as well start from scratch, because we would be starting from scratch anyway.

I agree with BRI, I think the spread would be a great offense to run here, but I love power football just as much as you. Could a hybrid of Texas A&M's triple option and West Virginia's speed-based spread attack work here? I would hate to see Nebraska just straight-up COPY another school's style. I DO think the option could work again if we could just recruit fast enough players to run it effectively and a mobile quarterback with an arm to match his feet.

Frazier wouldn't be a good OC or a good HC and from what I understand he didn't do a very good job in his last coaching position. <_<

i think, eventually, not soon enough, we steal a coach from the SEC or maybe the Pac 10. We have to overhaul the whole damn staff, period.

Ped doesn't have the balls to do it just yet, but i bet some supporters are starting to piss on his legs right now. Who in their right minds could say this thing is headed in the right direction? We could easily lose 3 or 4 more games this season. How could you say Cally has fulfilled or exceeded all expectations? Ped is just absolutely full of sh#t!

Guys - this program can still be a winner in a short period of time. I don't get why so many think this is the beginning of the end.

Callahan has done the hard work - he's at least recruited offensive players who can thrive in a pro-style offense. It doesn't have to be the West Coast offense, (and I don't think anybody really cares for this offense) but we've got players who can play in a passing offense.

And we have talent on both sides of the ball. We need to recruit more speed for the defense, but let's not assume that the cupboard is bare.

What needs to change is the attitude and culture surrounding this team. It's clear that this staff is not a good group of coaches or teachers. It's clear that they do a poor job of preparing this team on a regular basis, and that they do not motivate the players.

If we get the right head coach, this program will be dominant again - and in short order.

FIRE BILL CALLAHAN AND HIS STAFF - FIRE STEVE PEDERSON - BRING BACK HUSKER PRIDE!

I agree with your first two points. The fact is Bill Callahan is 0-14 while trailing at half. There has never been a national champion who runs the West Coast offense. I would like to see a spread offense with a lot short passes, some option from the shotgun and in between the tackles runs. As for your third point I couldn't agree less. There is no way I will stop supporting the team, no matter if I don't anyone on the team, it is still Nebraska and honestly I feel everyone who is giving up on the team are not true fans and never been true fans. Unless you are a major donor or sponser of the program the boycott will not work. There will always be people like me who stand through the tough times and support the team.

it's possible, but not necessarily probable. Saban seems to have done it and Spurrier seems to have rejuvenated his club too. Yes, the overall prep and coaching seems horribly lacking. Something IS terriably wrong, but there will be no staff changes until after season and then somewhat limited at best.

Everyone says the option is dead, yet I saw the #1 team in the country run it last night for a td.

And how many times did LSU run the option?
I don't know, I didn't watch the whole game, there was this one game on ESPN last night that I was trying to watch. But they did run the option, with a 5* qb no less and it worked for a td. Another time I saw Perilloux (sp?) run for a 12 yd gain.
