I just love it when people say that!!!! I went to Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio for basic training in August of 2000 and it was something like 108 or 109 the whole damn time and everyone said it's a dry heat and I wanted to punch someone in the face every time they said that!!!

I was in Lackland during late October. It can get pretty chilly down there, believe it or not. Doing drill in shorts and a t-shirt in the pouring rain isn't exactly a way to stay dry, either.

And I don't miss those "Lackland Lanterns" a damn bit...

I hated that place!!!! 4:45 in the morning and it 88 degrees out already singing the Air Force fight song!!!!! :WTH
My favorite was the little dab of spit you were supposed to put on the first square of toilet paper on the roll to keep it in place. Very important. :sarcasm

I loved my first morning!!!! :sarcasm I remember I thought I was still at home in my room and someone turned the lights on..............I sat up in my bed and started to say "What the hell!!!!" Then the trash can flew past my face............that's when the gates of hell opened!!!!! :clap

I was a little luckier than that - I was in OTS. They didn't pull that kind of sh#t on us, thank God.

I was never very accepting of authority...

Yeah it sucked that's for damn sure!!!! I didn't use the bathroom for a week I was worried they would come in and start yelling at me!!!!!

Greetings from the sand box. I am fine and well, except for the Husker Football Jones that i am going through. I have been here in Iraq for 7 weeks now and i have been able to watch only 1 game on AFN. they tape delayed the Iowa St game but the replay was on in the middle of the day on a day that i had to work............Bastards.

I got on the board earlier today and didnt recognize the site. looks like some improvements have been made. To all that put the improvements together, congrats you scored a touchdown. The site looks great

just some info to pass on if any of you want to travel over and visit this beautiful country, there is only a few things that you need to keep an eye out for. IED's, Insurgents (but they cannot shoot worth a damn), Sand Fleas, Sand Flies, and Camel Spiders. i forgot mosquitos to.

the country smells like the worlds outhouse, the sand out here is more like brown baby powder, and when the wind blows it gets into everything.

i dont want this to sound like i am begging or anything but can some one send over some Huskers Illustrated after they have read them. Nothing like getting news from home even if it is old news.

I would ask for Playboy, but then there would be 2 problems. 1) it is illegal to possess pornography of any kind here and 2.) some of you out there are some sick bastards and would send me one with the pages all glued together, and not with elmers glue either.

enough for now

you forgot to mention the sand vipors that are looking for a warm place to sleep at night. These little f'ers are awfull deadly.

Anyway, try top get on the board for the husker game tomorrow morning. I will be here bright and early at 2am. I know you told me you would try to get to the game at halftime. Talk to you then bro.

Hey fellas. Glad to hear youre hanging in there. Thanks for checking in, and for the ups on the new site. BTW, if you still see any old imgs, you'll need to clear your cache. Let me know if you have any ?'s about anything.

And do you know, if I order a subscription to HI for you, will they deliver it over there? Send me your addy bro, I'll hook you up right.

Sucks to be you. I bet it took you 2-3 days to get out there. Marine air out west is unreliable at best.
It took 9 days to get out of alasad, Got bumped a couple of times due to transporting prisoners and another was mail, but most of the time it is the blowing sand that keep the birds from flying
