IMO, there is only a few ways we have a chance of winning this game.
Offensively. We must keep their offense off the field as much as possible, and we must be productive on offense. Our offense must create LONG successful drives (5-7 minutes). This will keep their offense off the field while taking time off the clock. We will need touchdowns, not fieldgoals. The USC offense WILL score on our defense.
Defensively. Put pressure on Booty. Our under-sized and inexperienced defensive backs will not be much of a threat to their wide receivers. Booty, while potentially a good QB, is still relatively unexperienced (especially against quality defenses). We must throw off his timing and make him paranoid about getting hit. This, IMO, is the best defense we will have against their tall and very fast receivers. Watch for the run. If they are successful running the ball, we are in trouble.
Special Teams. Win the special teams battle. We cannot have them get big returns, and we need get some good returns. Give them a long field to work with. This would be a good game for Congdon to kick it out of the endzone every time. They have great kick-returners, so I would rather take our chances with them starting on the 20 all game.
Ball Control. No turnovers period!
If we can keep it a close game (even if we lose), it is a win for us. The only way we can lose is if we get blown out. Getting our asses handed to us would just be REAL bad on so many levels. I dont't think we will get blown out, but in all honesty, the match up between ther WRs and our DBs scares the $hit out of me. Our DBs have to play abouve and beyond themselves this weekend.
