John Butler fired

Love when the Rhule haters come out of the woodwork. No source, but talk around here was that Rhule was not happy about losing games on the last drive & Butlers lack of making changes to stop the run. There was a disconnect on how the def. was supposed to be ran.

But has this been going on across multiple DCs and if so how does that happen?

If you've got incredible talent (and speed) maybe it works and you can jump the routes, maybe get a pick six. Otherwise it makes no sense.
Inherently I believe the DC is afraid of giving up the long touchdown. It’s the old “make them drive the length of the field” mentality. Which does make sense, however, it’s also a killer for players to see their team have long drive after long drive put up against them.

For Chinander it was always super clear his mentality was "bend but don't break." He feared giving up the big play, and I think that explained the cushion.

I don't get the mentality, either. Maybe you don't have a strict man press...but why is the cushion so huge?

I cannot glean anything from your post here. I can't figure out what your point is nor what this is directed towards.

Where's the example of "hating Rhule?" He fired his DC. Now we're talking about it.

Calling the firing a scapegoat.

Nope, you misunderstood. I was insinuating that Butler's comments about not having the right players was potentially the scapegoated event.

And even if somebody thought the firing itself was Rhule scapegoating the season's failures, how would that be construed as "Rhule hate?"

Not a big deal, just a weird callout. As if there are magical internet points to be accumulated by never giving any criticism to the team or the coach or something.

Interesting quotes from Phil Snow during bowl prep on many players not knowing what to do. While that is an indictment against Butler, Snow was on the staff this season also. Why did he hold his tongue and not take these issues to CEO HC Rhule?

Snow statements

Unfortunately there were way to many gaping holes to not realize that not everyone knew what they were doing way too often.
