Keller

I think you are going into a conspiracy theory just a little bit too much here. He is going to his checkdown guy most of the time and maybe it's really because he doesn't want to force a pass and would rather get the first down instead of the forced touchdown. I don't know???
Every long ball he threw was floated and not accurate. I dont think he has confidence in his ability to go deep so he keeps throwing short.

The WCO is all about short passes. Montana made a living throwing 5 yd passes to Craig and he turned them into long gains. Keller dumps short passes to Lucky and he gets creamed. There are a lot if things wrong with this offense beside the QB.

Is it possible that Keller is more interested in padding his completion stats than winning games for NU? How many times have you seen him dump off a 2-3 yard completion on 3rd and long? It seems to be fairly frequent.

Maybe it's time that he rode the bench. Maybe that's why Arizona sent him packing. I mean, he has good stats, and the team sucks. Is there a relationship? I, for one, would like to see Ganz or one of the young QB's have a chance. After all, they are the future. Keller is just here to prepare for the pro draft. Trust me, we certainly have nothing to lose.
Man you're way off with this! If it wasn't for Keller our record would be 1-5 and he's one of the few players on this team that play with any kind of emotion. There are a lot of reasons why we suck so bad, but they all reside with the coaching staff or lack of it. Callahan, Cosgrove and Pederson deserve 100% of the blame for the embarassment that our beloved program has become. Stop reaching!

The man has 9 TDs and 8 INT's...it doesn't appear he's padding the stats

Plus if you saw him after he missed that throw he was f'n livid on the sidelines

the problem with keller, and it became more apparent as i watched him live, is that no matter the down or distance, he will lock onto a single receiver. and if he has to go through his progressions, its only because he's flushed from the pocket and running for his life. while you could put all the blame on him if you want, its mainly a coaching problem. if any big time coach had the talent around him that the skers have, we'd be looking at a bcs game. instead, billy wants to call plays that go 5-10 yds deep, so when keller does go deep he is trying to force something that isn't there. BC also decides amongst himself that we don't need to run the ball even when lucky is playing his a$$ off. everyone knows that a qb's best friend is the run game. so as this may seem like a praise keller post, its not. its a anti-coach post

Yeah he really needs to work on not locking onto a receiver and looking the defenders off. He's horrible at that.

Is it Kellers fault that the O-line cannot run block and pass protect? It's a sad day in Nebraska when they have it on the 4 yard line first down and have to pass because they can't run the ball.

Callahan teaches the QB's to do this. Not by choice, obviously, but just the point that punting IS ok. There is no point in trying to force a tough pass when you can dump it off, get quality yardage, and maybe 1/3 of the times we break some tackles and get the first down anyway. Football is a battle of field position, and you can't lose that battle and expect to win, especially with our defense.

Now, obviously, when we're losing, your gonna want to take a bit more risks than usual, but i think Kellers doing fine.
If you say so. All I know is that we nearly lost to Ball State and Iowa State, struggled against Wake Forest, and couldn't score a touchdown against one of the worst defense in the nation.

Ten-to-one that OU hangs 40+ points on Missouri next week.

But, you repeated the Conventional Wisdom, so it must be true.
Keller is doing as good a job as the West Coast Offense is allowing him to do. It is predicated upon the notion of the prissy short pass acting as a long hand-off. Keller's biggest problem is a decided lack of any kind of running game. If the front four of the opponent can bottle up the running game, the linebackers and secondary can always drop into coverage. Then the receivers will never get open.

The real problem with this team is a decided lack of toughness. This is bred by the prissy passing game on offense and the "read and react" style of defense. It is also no coincidence that this lack of toughness started when Boyd Epley was pushed out as Head Strength and Conditioning Coach.

I don't get to see game tape unless they play a Pac-10 team but the reason is similar to why Taylor struggled against OU last year.

Our receivers are running routes that take a little time to develop and then.....they aren't open b/c they aren't athletic enough! We are running an offense suited for a FL school or a WEST coast school where they have the athletic receivers to pull it off. He holds the ball to save an INT. Now with no mobility he can't buy more time or run.

Um, no. Sorry. If it weren't for Keller we'd have lost a lot more games. When you're at the games you can see who's open and who's not. Keller holds on to the ball cuz nobody is really open. Then really, Marlon, is his check down guy and he dumps off to him. He's doing just fine. And you can't really say he's not a REAL husker. To me, he takes this game more seriously then 90% of people on that team. Keller WANTS to be there, he WANTS to win. He may not be the best we've ever had, but I'd hate think where we'd really be without him.

keller is one of few that actually shows emotion out there. he gets handcuffed basically by the play calls, far to predictable play calling. our o-line that has regressed since last year. personel packages will tell you for the most part what we are doing, callahan has changed up some but still not enough. i think they should get keller not to go to the sidelines to get the play every time save some energy for the plays. when you rarely throw a pass over 10-15 yards and have a non existent run game the defense will be all over the dump offs. our 2 min. offense has worked very well with sam not going to the sidelines, and just letting him lose.

This actually wouldn't be a conspiracy because the theory is that it's just one guy doing something for himself.
