KSU assistants - Gill/Sander

I also doubt Gill goes to KSU. He wants to be a head coach and going to KSU would go against everything he said in his goodbye speach to the players, coaches, university and fans.

Bo Pelini to KSU or Colorado? From NU, to OU, to LSU to KSU/CU? He's being tossed around like a 2 dollar hooker.

two dollar ho'?

that's kinda mean. it's also kinda true. he's gone everywhere and anywhere these past few years and he *wants* a head coach job.

i hope he doesn't take the CU job, cause i believe he deserves better.

bo needs a school like Ohio or somesuch to get his feet wet. getting tossed into a shark tank like colorado... i wouldn't wish that on anyone.

That would make all the "I yearn for yesteryear" people absolutely giddy.

I'll go ahead and get this out of the way now......."Yea, you mean when we won alot OMG@2!"

I figured Marvin Sanders wouldn't leave UNC and he cemented it...

"As was reported in several media outlets over the last few days, I was offered an opportunity as defensive coordinator at a school in the Big 12, a conference in which I played and coached," says Sanders. "I was flattered by the opportunity and appreciated John Bunting's willingness to let me explore that option. However, my heart is here at North Carolina. We have unfinished business. Coach Bunting does things the right way and I truly believe this is a program on the brink of doing great things. d!(k Baddour has demonstrated to Coach Bunting and me his complete support and commitment to making Carolina Football one of the top programs in the country. Mr. Baddour, Coach Bunting and I had been discussing an extension in recent weeks and I am glad to have this done so I may fully concentrate on recruiting a special class to UNC. I look forward to our future here at Carolina."
Also, in another interview he stated that he had agreed in principle to a contract extension.

But if you want to break down what Sanders is saying in code above...

"When Coach Bunting effs up again, I'm going to be next in line for the HC gig, not to mention I got a substantial raise already. *pats self on back*"

Congrats to Coach Sanders!

I still miss this guys coaching. One of the few moves I feel like kicking Coach Callahan for.

Gill second interview with Buffalo

BY STEVEN M. SIPPLE / Lincoln Journal Star

Turner Gill’s pursuit of a head coaching position continues today. The former Nebraska assistant coach and standout quarterback will be interviewed a second time for the vacancy at the University of Buffalo, the Buffalo (N.Y.) News reported in today’s editions. The 43-year-old Gill, currently in his first season as director of player development and offensive assistant with the NFL Green Bay Packers, had his first interview at Buffalo last week.

After five losing seasons, Buffalo fired head coach Jim Hofher with two games remaining this season. The Bulls ended up 1-10, including 1-7 in the Mid-American Conference.

Hofher, who had one year remaining on his contract, posted an 8-49 overall mark at Buffalo. He took over a fledgling program that made the jump to NCAA Division I-A when it joined the MAC in 1999.

Gill, who worked 13 seasons as a Nebraska assistant coach, couldn’t be reached for comment Monday. If he lands the Buffalo job, he would join the same conference as former Husker head coach Frank Solich, who recently completed his first season at Ohio.

In other coaching news, former Nebraska assistant Marvin Sanders has turned down a chance to become Kansas State’s defensive coordinator. The 38-year-old Sanders received a contract extension at North Carolina, where he serves in the same capacity.

Sanders reportedly was approached by new Kansas State coach Ron Prince, who replaced longtime Wildcat mentor Bill Snyder last week.

Second interviews are usually a good sign a coach is in the top 3 of the candidate list. Having spent that much time at Nebraska and been an assistant shows he can be relied on to be a stable cancdidate and not bounce around. I am interested in finding out who else is interviewing for the job
