Marlon Lucky, a rapper?

At 1st, I thought it was a bad remake of a Jon&Vangellis song from the '80's, then turned into something indistinguishabe to the opening song from "Fresh Prince of Bell Aire".

I guess being raised in a family of Band Geeks, I'm more into real instrumentation..Not un-nessesary rymes.

Groups like Slipnot, Godsmack, and Rob Zombie were kind of a breath of fresh air after the boy bands and Milli Vanilli Pop bands.

I'll admit I grew tired of Smashmouth/Godsmack/Creed really fast..mainly due to overexposure..But "Arms Wide Open" still makes me tear up (just last week) and think of our Hybrid when he was a newborn.
If you want a good sampling of Deltron 3030, check out this track, though please ignore the idiot with the glowsticks in the video, he had to wear a bike helmet to school as a kid:

Actually give the song a chance though, don't just listen to the first 20 seconds and say "this is dumb" and stop the track, the song doesn't pick up until the 40 second mark (it's the opening track on their cd, so the first 40 seconds serve as an intro to the album... kind of)

I'm fine with your saying that Rob Zombie is a breath of fresh air, but Godsmack is the anti-fresh air. I've never seen a bigger rip off band in all of my life, not only did they steal their entire sound and lyrical style from Alice in Chains, they even stole the name of their band from an Alice in Chains song!

"Hey guys, we're Godsmack. Remember Alice in Chains? Yeah, they were great, right? Okay, so we're going to try to do exactly what they did, but it'll probably be much, much worse. Hope you enjoy it!"

Arms Wide Open is one of the cheesiest, most idiotic songs to ever be created. What an astounding pile of drivel... I mean, does this song really need to be written? Yeah, you had a son, you're going to do stuff with him, we get it. Scott Stapp is not really covering any new ground here... though apparently by saying "I'll show you everything" in that song, what he meant was "I'll get really drunk all the time, perpetually stroke my enormous ego with a gold plated blanket, and frequently engage in the recreational use of prescription pain medications".

I had to look at the code of your 3030 and the one I posted..Just to make sure we weren't watching the same one..This is Still dumb..Maybe I'm in a better mood this time (Usually Rap just makes me want to smash brick walls :bang ..I spose I could listen to it in an elevator if the sound was real low and I didn't have to listen along to the words to make sure they rymed..Maybe as background music while being forced to watch "dancing with stars" or "Survivor".

I was reminded today that I actually bought a rap CD (used) once..Tone Loke's "Funky Cold Medina" was on Buckeye 37's Sirius today...Now there's a guy with a unique voice and knows how to space his rymes around enough that you don't feel pressured to make a bid (Live Auction).

I felt a little weird saying "Rob Zombie" and "Fresh Breath" in the same sentence..Ever seen his teeth? :ahhhhhhhh

Cheesy idiotic songs are what R&R was founded on..And I'll always value ones that can make me cry in public like a little girl...I lost my Dad and Big Brother about the same time as Mike & the Mechanics came out with "Living Years"..That and the Hollies "He ain't Heavy" almost always make me loose it...

I always wondered if Godsmack got their name from the song by Alice In Chains, or the other way around.

I'm a fan of unique voices..I really liked Layne Staley's..Even more than Karen Carpenter's, sometimes.

The best thing about Godsmack was that it was one of the few groups both me and my Wife seemed to like.

(Sometimes that 9yr age difference is difficult)..I haven't heard them much on the local stations, lately, But I'd still burn a copy and play it a couple times if I saw it...Was it Godsmack the recently did a Led Zeppelin cover? Sacrilege!
