Five-Star Recruit
If you want a good sampling of Deltron 3030, check out this track, though please ignore the idiot with the glowsticks in the video, he had to wear a bike helmet to school as a kid:At 1st, I thought it was a bad remake of a Jon&Vangellis song from the '80's, then turned into something indistinguishabe to the opening song from "Fresh Prince of Bell Aire".
I guess being raised in a family of Band Geeks, I'm more into real instrumentation..Not un-nessesary rymes.
Groups like Slipnot, Godsmack, and Rob Zombie were kind of a breath of fresh air after the boy bands and Milli Vanilli Pop bands.
I'll admit I grew tired of Smashmouth/Godsmack/Creed really fast..mainly due to overexposure..But "Arms Wide Open" still makes me tear up (just last week) and think of our Hybrid when he was a newborn.
Actually give the song a chance though, don't just listen to the first 20 seconds and say "this is dumb" and stop the track, the song doesn't pick up until the 40 second mark (it's the opening track on their cd, so the first 40 seconds serve as an intro to the album... kind of)
I'm fine with your saying that Rob Zombie is a breath of fresh air, but Godsmack is the anti-fresh air. I've never seen a bigger rip off band in all of my life, not only did they steal their entire sound and lyrical style from Alice in Chains, they even stole the name of their band from an Alice in Chains song!
"Hey guys, we're Godsmack. Remember Alice in Chains? Yeah, they were great, right? Okay, so we're going to try to do exactly what they did, but it'll probably be much, much worse. Hope you enjoy it!"
Arms Wide Open is one of the cheesiest, most idiotic songs to ever be created. What an astounding pile of drivel... I mean, does this song really need to be written? Yeah, you had a son, you're going to do stuff with him, we get it. Scott Stapp is not really covering any new ground here... though apparently by saying "I'll show you everything" in that song, what he meant was "I'll get really drunk all the time, perpetually stroke my enormous ego with a gold plated blanket, and frequently engage in the recreational use of prescription pain medications".
