Marrow to Kentucky

Pelini has to carefully weigh the options as this is going to happen anytime any coach can take a promotion. Whether that is a GA to assistant, Assist. to Coach, or Coach to a different school. I think another solid question for the staff to consider is how much weight and recruiting they give to GA's going forward for this very reason.

Whether we save Marrow or he leaves, this could very well happen again with Ganz (even if it is a lesser degree) or any other "recruiter/coach" promotion or move in the future. It's not worth making a change to keep 3 recruits (Sandland we'd only have for two years). So if it's the best thing for the program, great let's do it, but not as a reaction to keep a few recruits.

He is one of our best if not our best recruiter. You have to make room. There will be at least 1 spot open but the question is. Was Bo planning on using it for Marrow? Or was he planning on Marrow getting a slot next season

Morrow has been on the road recruiting. Ganz hasn't. Marrow also has a ton more coaching experience than Ganz, really we have been lucky to get a guy like him to agree to be a GA in the first place. I hope Bo has a plan to keep him around, he is a huge asset.

Is Marrow even allowed to recruit, not being a member of the staff?...

They put in some sort of request allowing him to recruit on the road for Cotton....that seems to put the writing on the wall. However Cotton is hurt or something along those lines.

Nebraska got a waiver from the NCAA to let Marrow take Cotton's recruiting spot so Cotton could recover from his shoulder surgery.

Haha, even our assistant coaching staff is getting hit with injuries  Thanks for the info guys.

Not only does nobody want Bo, nobody wants to work for him either :sarcasm
I am sure plenty of people would take a 6 figure job to coach football....on Bo's staff you do not even have to be qualified! :moreinteresting :moreinteresting :moreinteresting :moreinteresting :moreinteresting :moreinteresting :moreinteresting :moreinteresting :moreinteresting :moreinteresting

I heard somewhere a ways back that Jamrog was on his way out as dir. of football ops, and that Barney was going to get that spot in order to open up a spot on the staff for whoever, but keep Cotton as here somehow.

It boggles my mind that our recruiting class hangs in the balance because of a graduate assistant.

Really? He is that much more valued by these guys than the full time coaches?
Yes, he actually recruits and does a pretty good job at it. I would love to see what the guy could do given the reigns as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. He seems to just get it in terms of recruiting.
As someone with experience managing sales people, it's not a good situation to have so much of your "sales" tied up in someone who is a lower level employee and may not be as committed to your program. OR....you better be ready to fork out the promotion and money if the time comes that you need to.

It sounds like this is one of those times. I'm assuming the staff is being very open to these recruits on the future of Vince in the program.

Why does Huskers.com have Marrow as TE's coach now? Is there something we don't know? I know at the beginning of the season, it stated Garrison was Offensive Line/Tight Ends Coach, and Marrow was a GA. Now it shows Garrison as Offensive Line, and Marrow as Tight Ends. Shows 10 assistants and 2 GA's. This obviously is not allowed by NCAA regulations, 9 assistants, 2 GA's and head coach. I know there are ways to have 3 GA's or an undergrad coach, like we have done.

Possibly because he technically is because of the NCAA waiver due to Barney's injury?
