Matt Rhule to stay at Nebraska

I agree if after 9 years the best Rhule is doing is 9 or 10 wins and 4 losses a year with mid bowls and no championships he should go too.
Most schools would love to have this on a regular basis. I'm an old fan - first game I remember is N vs LSU 1970! 2nd game I remember is the Game of the Century. Our past doesn't entitle us to be in the playoffs. We have to earn it. I'm hoping that with the extension, Rhule gets some high ranking recruits to commit and some great portal transfers to come our way. As the saying goes ' it isn't the x and os, it is the Joes. Yes better coaching in key spots is needed but we need greater talent to get us back to the top. If we don't want to pay the bill to get there we might as well rejoin the BIG 12 and play for the fun of it.

I think the QB and skill players have gotten more high end recruits. Not just one go to reciever, etc. Next they need line upgrades and depth. The only sack this week was when we lost the right tackle for the year, so tackles are where the line needs the most help.

We need good depth but are also very young as a team. Hopefully we can pick off the better line players from schools dumping coaches early.

Rhule is a recruiter. That's what is needed most. A cheerleader to bring in talent to a mid program that's played for nothing for decades in a small state with crap weather and a goofy name/mascot.

The more I see about this contract, the more I love it.

He didn’t get a pay raise and it holds both him and the university accountable to be working in the same direction. Honestly, I don’t know how you can ask for more.

I agree. Damn it I just want to see the Huskers send a real QB to the NFL early in the draft. I want to see consistency with WR getting drafted, and another Ameer, THAT would get us more consistent blue chip players here.

Need that blackout Herbie shirt Rhule is wearing
"Unfortunately, the specific Adidas "Blackout Herbie Husker" shirt Matt Rhule was seen wearing is
not currently available to the public, and was likely a special item for Nebraska staff. The limited-edition, Adidas-branded gear often worn by university coaches is typically not sold in retail stores."

He didn't necessarily get a pay raise, but he got a firing raise and additional incentives. The firing raise is where I think NU essentially bid against itself.

But I get the point about the business, optics, and all that. Like every other fan, just don't want to see things stay mediocre or worse in 3-4 years and the program be on the hook for a Brian Kelly-like buyout.

How do you figure? He was guaranteed 90% before and after the new contact.

Weren't 2 years added to the deal? Doesn't that add about an additional 20 mil to a buy out? Maybe my math is off.
It does add 2 years but that's just standard so that other schools can't negatively recruit against us for not having extended the contract. The contact was going to get extended before next season anyway.
