I don't think it is a huge deal either. The time the team has between the beginning of Fall camp and the first game is short enough, no need to eat a day talking to Sipple and Shatel.
So based on that, Snyder runs a NFL style of workout since he only spends 45 minutes on media day whereas other schools spend a full day, hence the "media DAY" refrence. Just because he wants to spend more time improving the team, all of a sudden he is trashing tradition? Where is this tradition holy book that everyone keeps talking about that says the walkon program has to have a certain amount of players allowed each year? Where is this holy book that says we have to have more local players then outside players on the roster? People keep referring to tradition, but where was tradition when USC was losing in the 90's and early 2000's? Where was tradition when OU was getting beat by Kansas, Kansas St, San Diego St, TCU, Northwestern, Texas Tech in the 90's? People want to cling on to tradition and live in the past. Go for it i say, but me, i am someone who lives in a world of reality. Tradition can only take you so far before you become the Kansas St of the college world. To Kansas St fans, football started in 1998. To NU fans, it sounds like college football died in 1997. Let go of the past and embrace the future.i really don't think "the loss" of a day is that big of deal, i just think Cally trashes traditions with no consideration of the consequences, get used to it folks, he will run this program "his way" so forget anything that was a part of past Husker tradtion........welcome to the NFL style of coaching.....all business

Media day has nothing to do with fan support. I think you are mixing up fan day with media day. Media day is basically just a bunch of TV reporters, radio announcers, and newspaper journalist sitting in a room and asking Callahan what he thinks about so and so and where the offense is headed and yada yada yada. What's the point of asking these questions when they haven't even played a down this year? It's a waste of time for both the coaches and players. Fan day on the other hand is when you go and get photos and autographs from the players, coaches, etc. To me, Callahan not having a Media day doesn't mean much. We will still hear about practice reports from tv, radio and newspaper sources regardless. The only reason this is such a big deal is because guys like Tom Shatel and Sipple now have to make 4, 5 trips to South Stadium instead of getting all their questions answered in 1 day, so they are whiningand one more day devoted to practice is not going to make us "turn the corner" either.......i don't cling to NU tradition, but somewhere along the way people see so many things dropped that they begin to ask questions......changing for the sake of change does not guarantee success.....media day is something that correlates to fan support......i guess Cally doesn't need that either? just remember his stupid comments about just one game, just one season....is everyone ok with that hs too? :WTH
