media day

well sorry to piss you off Dave, you seem a little intolerant, bad day? :dis my point is it is another opportunity for players to learn to handle the media and fans to get a perspective and come to know the players a little bit better by way of more info being shared, whether by the sportswriters or the players quotes themselves...i guess you guys prefer the K-State mode, no interviews, closed doors, not very good for fan relations, is it? just my opinion, but looks like thrashing/bashing is the trend here for things that don't suit the moderators? wow, thought this was a better place than that??

If you meant that, then why did you say this?:

i really don't think "the loss" of a day is that big of deal, i just think Cally trashes traditions with no consideration of the consequences, get used to it folks, he will run this program "his way" so forget anything that was a part of past Husker tradtion........welcome to the NFL style of coaching.....all business
or this

and one more day devoted to practice is not going to make us "turn the corner" either.......i don't cling to NU tradition, but somewhere along the way people see so many things dropped that they begin to ask questions......changing for the sake of change does not guarantee success.....media day is something that correlates to fan support......i guess Cally doesn't need that either? just remember his stupid comments about just one game, just one season....is everyone ok with that hs too?
I partially agree with what you said in your last post, but that message didn't come across AT ALL in your previous two. Maybe that is where some of the confusion lies, eh? You were talking about Callahan trashing tradition, not the need for players and coaches having more of an opportunity to get media time. I think the only losers in the loss of the media day is the newspaper writers from the small towns that only get to meet players and coaches on that one day. I live in Omaha, so there is really no shortage on info in the papers on the Huskers, so it doesn't really matter to me. I think it was said best earlier in this post:

I don't think it is a huge deal either. The time the team has between the beginning of Fall camp and the first game is short enough, no need to eat a day talking to Sipple and Shatel.

While I am a moderator, I am also a member. Being a mod does not and will not prevent me from stating my opinion on others opinons and topics in general.

There will be other opportunities to talk to the media, for both the players and that coaches. Now you are talking like they will never do another interview ever again! C'mon man. Dealing with the media is such an important topic that the team needs to devote a whole day to it.

Just like BC to use Fan day as a front for Juv. Diabetes fund raiser how self-centered when he could devote more time to the media :sarcasm

dave, i think you missed the point, you of all people here do not need to exaggerate and use unacceptable language to make your point, kick my dog? your imagination seems to be getting the best of you, sure disagree with me, but try to be a little more respectful, as you should be setting the example here..the rest of my point is this, i do not have the opportunity to attend fan day, so media day would have provided more info for me and it is something i always looked forward to in the past, so yes, for me, not having another shot at info, besides some of the trash put up on this board, would have been nice....GET IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think this board especially for FREE gives out some of the best info on the net. I belong to Husker.com (PAY) and dont get any better info than here. Just get to see video I might not see anywhere else. The mods here are also probably the most lenient, kind, gentle :sarcasm  no actually they keep everyone pretty much in line. They also have a right to give out opinions also. Just like u I dont see how anyone can say BC is stupid whats he pull in 2mil a year ouch thats stupid like a fox. Granted no one is perfect.

:horns2

GBR & HUSKER MESSAGE BOARD

While media day is only 1 day, it could be that BC is trying to set the "tone" that the media is not to be a distraction to the team. IMHO i don't really see where anything can be gained by the coaches and players being asked questions they've all been asked before and we've all heard the answers to. I don't think the loss of media day is any sort of slight to the fans, and I don't see how we lose something b/c it isn't going to take place.

Maybe, just maybe BC was a little worried that due to last year's dibacle no media would show up? Just kidding. I don't have a problem with the way Snyder does things in Manhatten for this simple reason: it's his friggin team. KState was the worst D1 program until he got there. Let him do his own thing down there. However, NU isn't BC's team. Actually, it's probably still Devaney's teams but he's dead now. Can't we just keep some of the old traditions alive? Is it too much to ask?

I agree with you though Hunter, if you don't think all is great in Huskerland then you are the enemy or so this board and mod's would have you to believe. I've all but left this sight several times promising never to come back. Why do I come back? I'm waiting for the day for those of you who think BC is the second coming to eat humble pie. I'm also waiting for the day for those of you who think BC is the enemy of the state to eat crow. Why can't there ever be any middle ground? Gee Whiz!!!!!!!!!

If that were the case, we would simply ban any member that expressed any negative opinion about the program. The fact that we have not is conclusive evidence that you are wrong on this point.

The majority of the members of this board choose to accentuate the positive, rather than dwell on the negative - including the moderators, for the most part. That is hardly the same as creating an atmosphere that either discourages posts to the contrary, or prohibits them entirely. I can't count the number of times we have been asked to ban members who have expressed what others consider to be "negative attitudes" - and to date we haven't done it. We encourage every member to post his or her honest opinion. We don't condemn what is said - we do ask that it be expressed in an appropriate manner.

That's a low blow, buddy.

That is absolutely rediculus. Someone saying that they dont agree with you, even if it is a moderator, has nothing to do with trying to inhibit your free speech. I have never seen a mod or blackshirt make any inappropriate posts, even in the woodshed forum, and I think that all of us should be thankful for these guys running an entirely FREE message board that even PAYS you. If you want to leave because people disagree with you, than go ahead, but good luck finding a message board that is devoted to how much Nebraska football sucks right now, unless of course its an Oklahoma board.

You gotta be joking. What exactly is your goal? To have the Huskers go 8-4 for the rest of your life? Just because a guy is a mod does not make you immune to having him pull your card for saying something stupid, and I am sure restraint is shown. I know that I scratch my head after reading most of your posts and prefer to not even respond. You are entitled to your opinion just as I or DaveH or anyone else on here. But not very many(if any) people agree with what you post. Does that mean that you are discriminated against for having a different opinion or that you just don't plain make sense? But whatever dude, there are tons of level-headed people here who have lots of info, knowledge and interesting points of view, and best of all YOU GET PAID TO TALK ABOUT THE HUSKERS! Does it seriously get any better than this?
