Memorial Stadium Renovation

And don't forget the tip screen on the card reader...
It’s going to be a challenge for the Hawkers (kids selling stuff).  All of my kids have done it.  It’s great money for a teenager.  If people tip that is.

Haven’t got a lot of information but hearing people are going to have to pass their cards or the hawker will have to pass the reader.  Other rumor we heard is no tips or tip sharing.

Tips are really make it worth it.  If they jack it up I doubt my kid will do it all season.

The tipping thing these days is out of control.  My rule now is unless I'm sitting and you're waiting on me, I don't feel a tip is necessary.  If I'm at the counter, or walked over to get something, I'm paying the price listed and that's it.  If it needs to be worth more, charge that price, but don't expect people to tack on extra constantly.

Yeah the last place I’m leaving a tip is at a ballgame where they’re already charging you premium prices on concessions.

I got in the habit of doing 10%-15% on carryout during Covid. But the way food prices (and the amount restaurants pay for labor) have gone up these last few years, I think I’m done tipping for carryout.

I get annoyed now when things are cash only because I never carry it.  Only use it for my kids allowance and teaching them about money these days.
Pffft,,..  When I'm out and about, I only carry and pay with bitcoin.

If they look at me funny, then I won't receive my taco order.

And all is good.

The receipt with tip for self-service was started about 2 decades ago by Chinese restaurants that had carryout .  Eventually Chili's 2-GO started doing it and other carryout places including Subway and Domino's (carryout) as well.  Next thing you know it was everywhere because tipping was convenient using Debit/Credit cards.

Although that's not exactly how it all started and went down.  Just remembering the first places I recall having that "tip" on receipt.   :)

Tipping for self-service should never be asked, because it's just greed.

The one I love is when you buy merch at a concert they want a tip for getting you a $40 t-shirt.

We were at a bar recently and paid via one of those handheld devices. The tipping options that came up were 20%, 22%, 69%, or custom. I giggled a bit and thought that was clever, but then I wondered how many drunk people accidentally click on that 69% and don't realize until later what they've done.

69%? Nice.

"Renovation" Ryan Field.  (completely destroyed)

A more intimate setting: Significantly smaller crowds — designed for a maximum capacity of 35,000, more than 12,000 fewer than the current Ryan Field, with a state-of-the-art canopy designed to focus noise and light on the field

Only 35K capacity??

BTW, three games are not temporary stadium but Wrigley field ... NW will host Ohio St and NW will host Illini.  And SeatGeek stadium, NW host Hoosiers (SeatGeek, 20K capacity)

If you guys have ever watched the movie "The Express" about Ernie Davis.  A good chunk of the football games were shot at Ryan field.  If it was day game in the movie it was shot at Ryan Field.  If it was night it was shot at the same HS where they filmed "Wildcats" with Goldie Hawn.

I had never watched it.  I initially thought Ernie was a NFL Draft bust, worse than Ryan Leaf, Johnny Manziel, JaMarcus Russell, etc. but in reality, died in leukemia at age 23.  Never played pro ball.

yeah, sad story.  Movie was ok.  Could have been better but the way they edited the football stuff didn't help.  They cut some good stuff and used bad angles on other.  All ex DIV I football players except one doing the stunt work.  Had two NFL guys that started working on it but then got signed to teams and didn't finish.  Kevin Kasper out of Iowa and Damien Anderson from Northwestern.  But yeah Ryan Field sucked for making movies in too.
