Michigan and Harbaugh under NCAA investigation

That's how much Michigan cares about a show cause. From his lawyer below. 

"The way I see it, from Coach Harbaugh's perspective, today's COI decision is like being in college and getting a letter from your high school saying you've been suspended because you didn't sign the yearbook," Mars said.

Why would Michigan care about a show cause for Jim Harbaugh after he left?  Harbaugh doesn't need to care about it either, he's not coming back to college. 

 
If I was Michigan, I would name a cheeseburger after Harbaugh and sell it in their concession stand.  They would make a mint!  Have a sauce called the "screw you NCAA" sauce.

 
Currently, allegations are swirling around Moore, accusing him of deleting a thread of 52 text messages between himself and Connor Stalions back in October. In the drafted NOA, it is stated the texts between Stalions and Moore have since been recovered through “device imaging,” and Moore later turned them over to the NCAA.

Speaking to a group of local reporters on Tuesday, Moore didn’t seem too concerned about the situation at hand.

“I’ll just say that I look forward to (the texts) being released, and that’s it,” Moore said.

I guess we will see what is in the texts.

People don't like the NCAA. Harbaugh saw kids during COVID and then didn't cooperate with the investigation. He served a 3 game suspension at the beginning of the season for it and now a 4 year show cause. If he hadn't landed an NFL job, I would say he didn't get away with it, and purposely brought it on himself. Michigan's classes are ranked in the teens every year and 2020 was no exception. They rarely get 5 star players because of academic arrogance. I doubt seeing these kids during COVID gave them an advantage in that class. They still get beat up by OSU for top Midwest talent. Even Kentucky steals their recruits.

I am glad we agree that stealing signs is not illegal and many teams do it. How Michigan gets punished for the advanced scouting, in addition to the Harbaugh 3 game suspension, will be interesting.

The advanced scouting rule was almost removed becuase the NCAA wasn't sure how to inforce it in the age of social media posts and YouTube. The poor schools with less money complained that they could not afford to pay scouts like the rich schools could, so it was left in.

So we agree that the sign stealing during the game is a red herring, and Michigan cheated by advanced scouting including stealing signs as part of that cheating.

An article in the free press about burgergate and how it spun out of control. No one here is probably interested, but it provides some insight into how the NCAA works and how coaches lawyer up. Harbaugh didn't recollect, NCAA produced a receipt for a cheeseburger for breakfast. Can decide for yourself whether they are pissed at Harbaugh. Between lawyers and leaks, it spun out of control.

“When I showed Jim the receipt,” Mars recalled, he said, ‘I guess I was there. You know anybody else that has hamburgers for breakfast? That’s what I order for breakfast. It’s obvious I was there. You can tell them I was there. I still don’t remember anything about being there.’”

All this time I thought he bought the kids a cheeseburger. It turns out he bought himself a cheeseburger ...for breakfast no less. He's a weird dude. After reading the article it seems like his 4 years show cause is about his lawyer pissing off the NCAA and Harbaugh refusing to admit he lied about meeting kids for breakfast.  :cowbell:

The NCAA likes to be taken seriously.
