Michigan and Harbaugh under NCAA investigation

It's not about the interim doing a good or bad job, it's about how this entire thing is going to swallow up the bowl game. There's distractions and then there's this sort of thing.
Meh, these kids are paid to do a job now. If my boss ends up corrupt and gets fired, I don't get a week off- I have to work harder to make up for him.

Yeah, my first thought was it would be a mess and having 3.5 hours on national tv where this will definitely be talked about would be bad. But they probably also want a chance to sell the guys currently in the program on whatever coaches will be there instead of sending them home right after finals, so if they make a quick hire that might outweigh the negative. And I fully expect them to throw whatever weight they have around to minimize how much it's brought up during the broadcast.

Would they still hold the office Christmas party if he's fired? That's more what this is like, they don't need to be working.

A bowl game is much more than an office party. Colleges bring in big money to be at these games.

Eh, my understanding is it goes to the conference and everybody gets a cut - presumably the largest piece to the participating school, but the stuff I can find says it's split equally. I do know the Big Ten has weird stuff with certain schools getting preferential treatment and new schools not being fully vested, but the Big Ten would get ~8 million from the Citrus bowl. Michigan does not get all of that, and it's probably a fraction.

Christmas party is not a good analogy, but it's not like they're losing significant money if they don't play. A small school making a late December bowl is huge for their margin, it's not for places like Michigan. And they just "saved" a big chunk of change by not having to give a payout. I think they'll play, but it'll be because they think they can control the narrative better and not because of the money.

I’m pretty sure I read or heard somewhere that allegations of an improper relationship were brought to either the president or AD over the summer. The rumor was investigated and found to be unsubstantiated and the issue was dropped.

I just don’t know where I read it.

I have heard later than that, but it was a paternity test that came back earlier this week that sealed it. Monday: the other women dumps him. Tuesday: paternity test proves the baby is his. Wednesday: he is fired and goes off the deep end.

My guess is that she went along with the denial initially and recently changed her mind.

Man, all my self absorbed screw ups happened back before the information superhighway was constructed.

Now the whole planet gets to see ones dirty laundry, in minutes.

I wonder if Hausmann’s mental struggles had anything to do with the environment? I bet there was just a feeling of doom that surrounded the team.
